Philippine Native
Pig
Characteristics:
• Generally small in size
• Mostly solid black or
black and white
• Sway back
• Weak patterns

Traits:
• Very prolific
• Good mothering ability
• Resistant to adverse
condition
• Adaptable to local rural
farm conditions
LANDRACE
Characteristics:
• Long, lean, white pig
with 16 or 17 ribs
• Large drooping ears
• Long and relatively
straight snout
• Slight arch and nearly flat
back
LANDRACE
Traits:
• Sows produce plenty of milk
• The location peaking at five
weeks
• Prolific
• Good mothering ability
Defect:
• Weak hindlimb and pastern

• Good muscle quality
• Resistant to stress

• Popular sire for the production of
slaughter pigs
• Fast growth rate, better feed
efficiency, good muscle development
with desired carcass quality

• Spotted black and white
• Medium size and erect
ears
• Moderately long and
slightly dished snout

• Good reproductive
performance
• Good mothering ability
Special note:
• known for its good
muscle development in
ham, loin and shoulder

Characteristics:
• Do not have distinguished physical appearance
• Most are white with good muscle development
Traits:
• Highly prolific
• Good fertility
• Bigger and uniform litter (heavy litter)
