Electrical Supply and
Materials
Learning objectives:

A. recognize the different types of electrical supplies and

materials;
B. discuss the uses and function of electrical supplies and
materials;
C. give the importance of knowing the electrical supplies and
materials
Electrical Supply and Materials

are developed and constructed for the purpose of such as to:

1. Control the flow of electric current in an electrical circuit
2. Carry electrical current from the source to the load or current
consuming apparatus.
3. Protect the housed, building, appliances’ and instruments from
any destruction and damages.
Male Plug

• A device that inserted to a convenience outlet to

conduct electric current. A flat cord is attached to it on
one end and the other end is connected to a current
consuming instrument or appliances.
Lamp holder

• These are device that hold and protect the lamp

and are also called as Lamp Socket/Receptacle.
These come in any design and sizes. They are
classified as flush type and Surface type.
Switch

• A device that connects and disconnects the flow

of electric current in a circuit. There are many
shapes, designs, and types and they are classified
as hanging, flush, and surface types.
Fuse

• A circuit protective device that

automatically blows and cut the current
when and overload or short circuits
happens.
Circuit Breaker

• An electrical safety device, a switch that

automatically interrupts the current of an
overloaded electric circuit, ground faults, or short
circuits.
Junction box

• A small metal or plastic junction box may form

part of an electrical conduit or
thermoplastic-sheathed cable (TPS) wiring system
in a building. If designed for surface mounting, it
is used mostly in ceilings, under floors or
concealed behind an access panel—particularly in
domestic or commercial buildings.
Utility box

• A box that houses electrical sockets,

switches, or other fixtures, also known as an
electrical box. Junction box, a box that
houses electrical connections.
Flat Cord

• used in computers and other electrical and

electronic products for internal
connections. They consist of highly
stranded, individually-insulated conductors
that are laid parallel and then fused in a
flat, flexible ribbon form
Electrical Wires conductors

Electrical materials that could be:

a. Stranded wire which is made of multiple strands joined together
to make a single wires.
b. Solid wire is made of single strand of copper or aluminum wire.
These are used in wiring installation inside and outside the
building.
Electrical conduits

• Is a tube or raceway used to house and

protect electrical wires within a building
or structure.
Electrical Clamp

• An electrical materials used to hold and

anchor electrical conduits in its proper
position.
Electrical connector

• Electrical material used to attach metallic

or non- metallic conduit to the junction or
utility boxes.
