90S FASHION

Scheau Raul Aurel

90S FASHION

• 90s fashion is hard to pin down. The decade

represented a mixture of trends, from the most
extravagant, which attracted everyone's attention, to
the most quiet and relaxed, which are still basic
elements in the wardrobe of the majority: silk slip-on
dresses, boots, chokers and crop tops .
90S FASHION

• While the 80s were about voluminous pieces of

clothing - padded shoulders, puffy jackets, permed hair
and obsession with designer clothes, the early 90s came
with the idea of simplicity and nothing complicated.

• The slip dress, one of the pieces of resistance of the

decade, is probably the best example of this. Spaghetti
straps barely supported the silk dresses, making the
transition from the frills of the 80s to the minimalist
vision of 90s fashion.
90S FASHION

• In 1990, fashion lovers decided to turn to

pieces that had the potential to stay
fashionable for longer. This meant that the
crazy shapes and wild prints of the '80s
started to lose their way. The jacket and
jackets have become the key to any daily
outfit. Some were of intense colors, such as
pink, orange or more subdued, but still
daring, such as white.
90S FASHION

• This fashion marked clear changes in the behavior of men and

especially young people, who influenced these trends. In
general, they changed their way of thinking, coming to
interpret them as personality models and as a way to express
their freedom and difference in front of others. The young
people gradually became characters who imitated in detail the
behavior and thoughts of those who at that time were
considered examples of beauty and ideals. Thus, in 1993, a
small band called Nirvana came to life, which began to appear
on the radio, entering the Billboard Top 40 and even reaching
the 1st place, greatly influencing the young people of that time
with their clothing, modifying in a way dramatically the
fashion that was called the "grunge look".
90S FASHION

• Several magazines are already proposing,

through their covers, that this is the new color
you must wear. In the 90s, Gwen Stefani -
with the video "Don't Speak" - made it
fashionable. Currently, models such as
Charlotte Free and Caroline Trentine are the
ones who reinterpret this style.
90S FASHION

• Even if you want to dress like the 90s, the

best thing you can do is to choose freedom
and individualism. In these years there is no
specific style, but almost all men tried to find
their own style through clothes. In general,
this process was also influenced by the
clothes of the eighties, as well as different
musical trends that influenced the fashion
world
90S FASHION

• Thus, with all the influences from the

eighties, the wild impulse of these years
relaxed, to give way to much simpler, casual,
comfortable and varied styles. The fashion of
the 90s should make us feel comfortable,
without giving too much importance to what
other people say or those who set the trends.
90S FASHION

• But, as I explained, the style, the type of

pants, the length of the clothes or the colors,
were varied, free, versatile. In terms of
materials, leather and plastic materials stood
out in particular, together with different types
of gauze. Regarding the colors, the most used
were, without a doubt, black and white with
futuristic tones and different prints, where
even animal prints were used.
90S FASHION

• "Be yourself" - this is the fashion motto of

the last decade of the 20th century. This need
to become casual was related to the need to
express individuality. The fashion of the 90s
is about freedom and comfort, without giving
too much importance to others or current
trends. So, if your style is minimalism,
naturalness and rebellion, don't hesitate and
join this libertine decade.
