GREEN HOUSE
• Enclosure , shed or closed place
• To protect plants from the outside conditions
• Usually in the colder regions
• Made with materials such as glass , polyethylene or plastic
GREEN HOUSE EFFECT
• During the day time the Sun’s rays heat up the earth .
• At night time the Earth starts to cool down
• The heat is trapped by certain particles of gases
• Major factors – Methane , Carbon dioxide and Water vapour
HOW IS IT A PROBLEM ?
• The increase in the world temperature causes global warming
• Global warming causes the melting of Ice in the polar regions
• There is then an increase in the sea level
• Which at last causes floods in certain regions of the Earth affecting the biodiversity of it .

ATOMS AND MOLECULES
• A class test conducted on 16th of December 2021 .
HOW CAN WE OBTAIN DYE FROM INK
•Aim - To separate dye from ink
•Steps – Take a beaker and fill half the beaker with water . Heat the beaker and place a China dish over the
beaker with ink on it .
•Observation – The water present in the ink evaporates and all that is left on the China Dish is the dye .
•Conclusion – From this we conclude that Ink is a mixture of water and dye which has a certain colour
HYPOTONIC AND HYPERTONIC
SOLUTION
Aim – To observe the change in a cell when it is present in a hypotonic and hypertonic
solution
Observation – When we take the Raisins(Cell) and place them in a hypertonic solution the
raisins start to shrink and bloat when placed in hypotonic solution .
POTATO ACTIVITY
• Aim – To observe osmosis in different scenarios –
DEAD CELLS or WHERE THERE IS NO HIGHER CONCENTRATION
Here we can observe that osmosis doesn’t take place

Conclusion – Osmosis does not take place in dead cells and requires a difference
in the concentration between two regions to occur .
WHERE THERE IS A REGION OF HIGHER
CONCENTRATION –
Here we can observe that osmosis takes place as there is a region of higher
concentration developed in the cavity of the Potato.

Conclusion – Osmosis takes place from a region of lower concentration to a

region of higher concentration .
TYNDAL EFFECT
• Aim – To observe Tyndall effect in a colloidal solution

• Observation – We observe that the light beam gets scattered by the milk solution as it gets
reflected by the particles present inside the colloidal solution .
TRUE , COLLOIDAL AND SUSPENSION
• Aim – To form true , colloidal and suspension solution of sugar , butter and soil in water .

True solution – Sugar Colloidal solution - Butter Suspension – Soil
