the market through e- commerce by Wu Jie Xian, Huang Yi-Wen, and Yu Hsiang-Ting 1
In a place where “food is
heaven for the people,” the “home economy” has set an unprecedented sales record for online e-commerce platforms and delivery services during the impact of Covid-19. Daily consumption habits now focus on the bulk of agricultural products that are not only highly certified but also locally grown so that they can quickly reach residents. 2
To play its part, the government
of Yunlin, a largely agricultural county in Taiwan, has developed its own e-commerce platform, Nubi, to drive the county’s agricultural products and meet the needs of residents. 3
Introducing the Nubi app
At the beginning of this year,
the Planning Department integrated technology and information into the marketing of the county’s agricultural products to develop the "Yunlin Nubi App" and worked with the Department of Agriculture to actively promote the official Yunlin brand "Yunlin Goods.” 4
When using the app, customers
can read policy announcements from the government in order to accumulate Nubi tokens and then exchange these for locally popular featured products during their purchase, representing a barrier-breaking feature of the app. In other words, the app combines government policy dissemination with e-commerce so that customers can receive important information and also earn points. 5
High local quality
The products certified by
"Yunlin Goods“ and which feature on Nubi focus on "local quality." The county government and the farmers’ associations of various regions in Yunlin actively counsel farmers so that the “harvest of hard work” can increase economic benefits. 6
The fresh quality of the
agricultural products that you get in your hands is actually ensured in two ways:
1. Through centralized purchase
by the government.
2. Through the visual inspection
of the farming process by the production and sales team of the farmers association. 7
During the growing season, it
is the production and marketing team of the various farmers' association (major agricultural cooperatives) that is the first line of check of the quality of products 8 Double-inspection for Consumer Confidence
"Yunlin Goods Certification" is
just like the certification of other products on the market. From the inspection of raw materials and the control of safety and hygiene in the process of producing the products to final packaging and preservation, each step follows central statutory standards. 9
In the documents attached to
their application, both farmers and manufacturers attach self- inspection reports and instructions. During the application process, re-inspection will be conducted by the local health bureau to check the hygiene and quality of the products. 10 How to find the Nubi app
