Aangat! Project Background DES Project background: The aim of this project is to address the common challenge of improving the reading skill of grade I – Yellow learners identified as non-readers. Despite the introduction of explicit instruction and skills and practice , most of my pupils in Grade I- Yellow still struggle in reading. Applied Best Practice
The project will apply explicit
instruction and intensive skills reading practice thru the use of Prject MAPA: Magsanay araw-araw, Pagbabasa Aangat! This approach involves a way to teach learners in a direct, structured way are regualr Project Goals DES 1. To significantly improve the reading skills of Grade I – Yellow learners.
2. To increase the confidence and
motivation of learners in reading.
3. To develop love for reading in
pupils. Project Objectives Project Objectives
Learners will be able to read words
with accuracy by the end of the project. Learners will be able to read confidently with the text with 80% fluency by the end of the project.

for 30 minutes.
Learners will engage in weekly partner reading for
40 minutes.
Learners will engage in monthly group reading for 40
minutes.
Learners will engage in quarterly oral reading for 50

Schedule
Daily independent reading 30 minutes (Monday to
Friday)
Weekly partner reading 30 minutes (every Monday)
Bi – weekly group reading: 30 minutes (first Monday of
each month)
Bi – weekly oral reading: 50 minutes (last Monday of
each quarter). Outputs DES 1. Contextualized reading intervention materials that are relevant to learner’s interest and experiences. These Materials should be used to help learners practice their reading skills.
2. Reading instructional plans that will
guide the teacher in delivering the project.
3. Reading assessment/monitoring tools
that will be used to meadure the learner’s progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Outcomes DES 1. Reading words with 75% accuracy.
2. Reading confidently with 80% fluency.
3. Independently apply project MAPA

Learner – The primary focus of the project is to
improve the reading skills of grade I – Yellow learners.
Teachers – The teachers will be responsible in
implementing the project, providing explicit instruction and intensive skills practice to pupils.
School administrators - They will provide support in
terms of resources and facilities to carry out the project successfully.
Parents – The parents will be informed of the project
