Kinds of Sentences

Declarative Sentence
- A sentence that tells something.
- It always ends with a period.

example:
I have a sister.
Imperative Sentence
- It also ends with a period.
- It tells you to do something.

example:
Be kind to others.
Interrogative Sentence
- It asks a question.
- It ends with a question mark. ?
Who: asks for the name of a person
Example: Who is your teacher?

What: can be answered with a name of an


animal, place, object, an event, activity, or
idea
Example: What will you do later?
When: asks for time
Example: When will we go to church?

Where: asks for a place


Example: Where will you spend the
holidays?

Why: asks for a reason


Example: What will you do later?
Exclamatory Sentence
- A sentence that expresses a strong emotion.

It always ends with an exclamation point. !

What a wonderful gift!
