● Explain how plants

reproduce sexualy
INTRODUCTION
According to Bunagan (2012), Strategic Intervention Materials are being used to re-teach
the concept and skills that are least mastered among learners. This is just one of the solutions to
address poorly performed competencies in the education system. In light of this, Department of
Education - Makati deeply look into these kinds of intervention programs that would fit the
necessity of learners. Evidently, these Strategic Intervention Materials will serve as a tool to
improve the academic performance of learners.

Amid pandemic, when there is a shift in the Education paradigm, uncontrollable challenges
in the delivery of instruction have risen. Through the initiative of DepEd Makati lead by Schools
Division Superintendent and Curriculum and Implementation Division, they instructed us to
prepare SIM that would bridge the gap to improve teaching and learning experience of learners
for school year 2020 - 2021.

This Strategic Intervention Material have different parts. It contains title card, guide card,
activity card, assessment card, enrichment card, answer key card, and reference card. The SIM
focus on a certain competency based on the new matrix given by the Department of Education.
The activities, assessment, and enrichment are all anchored to the given guide card or concepts.

Plant sexual reproduction happens when Pollination is usually brought about by
pollen grains are transmitted from the
anthers (male) into the stigmas (female)

wind

insects

The transfer of the pollen grains from the birds

anther to the stigma is called pollination.
Kinds of Pollination
birds

Self-pollination
insects - is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther
to the stigma of the same flower or of a different
flower that belongs to the same plant.
wind Cross-pollination

- is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther

of a flower to the stigma of another flower that
belongs to another plant but of the same kind.
Animals and other agents that
aid in sexual reproduction of Cross-pollination is the most common form of
plants are called pollination.
agents of pollination.
Once a pollen grain enters the stigma, it
swells and grows tube that travels
through the style until it reaches the
ovary.

The tube releases the sperm cells into

the ovule to fertilize the egg cell.

The fertilized egg cell and the ovule

itself develops into a seed, the ovary
then enlarges and thickens its walls to
become a fruit.

This will be the receptacle for the seeds.

These seeds can eventually grow into
new plants.
