IMPORTANCE OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

ACROSS FIELDS
Janet Brigida A. Catipon, MAEd
SST-III/TIC, Macabebe High School
People do research to find solutions,
even tentative ones to problems, in order
to improve or enhance ways of doing
things, to disprove or provide a new
hypothesis or simply to find answers to
questions or solutions in daily life.
RATIONALE
Research findings can affect people’s
lives, ways of doing things, laws, rules
and regulations, as well as policies
among others.
In the natural and social sciences,
Quantitative research is the systematic,
empirical investigation of observable
phenomena via statistical,
mathematical or computational
RATIONALE techniques.

The objective of quantitative research

is to develop and employ
mathematical models, theories and/or
hypotheses pertaining to phenomena.
The process of measurement is the
central to quantitative research
because it provides the
RATIONALE fundamental connection between
empirical observation and
mathematical expression of
quantitative relationships.
Many discoveries in this
field like human behavior
in the society, racial
Quantitative Research conflicts and human
and Anthropology evolution have given
enormous contributions to
the improvement of human
life.
Anthropologists conduct
quantitative research using
True Experiments, Quasi-
Quantitative Research Experiments, One-shot case
and Anthropology Study, Two-Group Posttest
Only Design, and One Group
Pretest and Posttest Design
Researchers are often interested in
how an understanding of a
particular communication
phenomenon might be generalized
Quantitative Research to a larger population.
and Communication Example:

What effect do punitive behaviors are

associated with different stages
● This tends to be
predominantly
observational research
Quantitative Research based on surveys or
and Medicine correlational studies.
● Experimental research
designs may enhance the
quality of medical
education.
The output of this research
focuses on how human
Quantitative Research behavior relates with another
and Behavioral Science people and also the individual
differences that may affect
human relations.
Many educational principles
Quantitative Research
in Educational and in understanding human
Psychology behavior are the offshoot of
this research.
The method employed in this
type of quantitative social
research are mostly typically
Quantitative Research the survey and the
and Social Science experiment.
Example: the study of
DSWD regarding 4P’s
