Introduction

Project:
An assignment having specified Scope of Work which is to be
completed within the allocated Budget / Cost, allotted Time and in
the ambit of specified Quality.

Project Management:

The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet
success criteria at a specified time.

The primary challenge of Project Management is to achieve all of the


project’s goals within the given constraints.

Functions of Management:

Planning is the process of thinking about the activities required to achieve a
desired goal.
It is the first and foremost activity to achieve desired results.

Its objective is to create an


environment that fosters
interactions among the team
members with a minimum amount
of disruptions, overlaps and
conflict.

 Project leadership, most simply, is the act of leading a team towards
the successful completion of a Project.

 In fact, project leadership requires skills in both management and


leadership.

 Project Controlling is a core task


in Project Management.

 It includes all activities that are


necessary to implement
the Project according to plan.

 The goal of Project Controlling is to


ensure that the Project’s goals are
achieved in the desired quality, while
adhering to the planned deadlines and

Project Implementation (or Project Execution) is the phase where visions


and plans become reality. This is the logical conclusion after visioning,
evaluating, deciding, planning, applying for funds and finding the
financial resources of a Project.

Steps involved in Implementation of Hydropower Project:

•Hiring of Consultant for conducting Feasibility Study under PC-II.

•Detailed Feasibility Study with or without Detailed Design.

• Award of Project through ICB under approved PC-I.

• Construction of Project.
