TIPS
Section 1 always has an example question first to give you plenty of time
to get started.
There is no break in section 4, so you need to read all the questions
before you hear the recording.
The speaker may introduce the topic at the start of the talk. whenever you
listen to a talk or lecture, you should draw on your knowledge of the topic
to help you make sense of what you hear.

The answers will come in questions order on the recording.

You will need to use the questions to help you follow the talk and find the
answers but you also need some time before the talk begins to read
through the questions.
a flowchart represents a sequence of events, so use this to help you
anticipate what is coming. use the words in the flowchart as anchors to
guide you.
SKILLS AND STRATEGIES

BEFORE LISTENING
Before the recording begins for each section, you will be
given up to 30 seconds to do the following things:

Understand the questions and underline the keywords.

Predict what you have to answer and what form (a
number, a name, a tick or how many words 1, 2, or 3?)
Use the keywords and any pictures or diagrams to help
you understand.
Predict the content (general idea) of what you will hear.
Anticipate synonyms and ideas expressed in different
words.
Be on the alert for any changes in voice, which might register surprise,
excitement, or another emotion. If a speaker is talking in a normal
monotone voice and suddenly raises their voice to a high pitch, that is
a huge clue that something critical is being stated. Listen for a speaker
to change their voice and understand the meaning of what they are
saying.
Adjectives are commonly asked about in IELTS questions.
Try to remember any main adjectives that are mentioned.
Pick out adjectives such as numbers, colors, or sizes.
