A mixture between handball and basketball, korfball is a fast, exciting game. The main
difference is that it's possible for men and women to play on the same team. It's also a really
good way to keep fit! The game began in the Netherlands about 100 years ago, and there are
now korfball clubs in more than forty countries around the world. The rules say that there are
eight players on each team. Four of the players need to be male, and four of the players need
to be female. Each player tries to throw the ball, which is similar to a football, into the goal,
which is like a basket but bigger. You aren't allowed to touch the players on the other team,
and it's against the rules to run with the ball or kick the ball. A game lasts for sixty minutes.
You don't need to be an athletic person to play korfball, anybody can play!
