Tulay na Lupa National High

School Forest: Botanical

Survey of trees
Introduction
• Study that investigated life stress and
rural children.
• Tulay na Lupa National High School
Forest
• Significance of trees
• Ecologists job description
• Point quarter method
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
General problem:
• How many trees are there at Tulay Na Lupa National
High School forest?
• What are the most dominant trees at Tulay Na Lupa
National High School forest?
• What are the least dominant trees at Tulay Na Lupa
National High School forest?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Specific Problem:
• What are the most dominant tree species in quadrant
1,2,3, and 4 at Tulay Na Lupa National High School
(Landbridge High School) forest ?
• What are the least dominant tree species in quadrant
1,2,3 and 4 at Tulay Na Lupa National High School
(Landbridge High School) forest?
Significance of the study
The findings of this study focused on TNLNHS
forest and its number of trees. Similarly, in deciding
to conduct this study, the researchers believes that
the results may benefit the sector and persons
involved in Tulay Na Lupa National High School as
follows:

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
This study mainly focused on the preservation and the number of
species that are least and most dominant tree species in the
TNLNHS forest. This study will only use a certain area in a school
to collect the number of trees in order to know what are the least
and most dominant tree species are. According to Google Earth the
forest covers an area of 15,225 square meters. We'll divide it into
four sections, each quadrants has a 3,806.25 square meter. Our task
is to count the number of trees and determine which trees are most
and least dominant.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This study employs a quantitative design. Surveys and
observations are used in descriptive quantitative design to
describe the condition or features of a phenomenon or
event. Survey research used to include a description of a
group of people. This study employs a survey and will use
a data collection sheets and formula for calculating the
most and least dominant tree species as its research strategy
since the goal is to count the number of trees and determine
the least and most dominant tree species.
DATA COLLECTION SHEET

Name of trees Tally Frequency (Number)

To make our research easier, we will use our data collection sheet as follows:
• First, we will identify the species of each quadrant and each tree.
• Second, we will tally them.
• Third, we will count our tallies for frequency.
• Finally, we will compute the total to determine the number of trees in the
entire forest.
Formula
Number of species A
Density
Area sampled (m²)

Number of species A x 100

Relative density
Total density of all species

Basal area of species A

Dominance
Area sampled (m²)

Dominance of a species A x 100

Relative dominance
Total Dominance of all species

Number of quadrants with species A

Frequency
Total number of quadrants sampled

Frequency of species A x 100

Relative Frequency
Total frequency of all species
The materials needed are:

• Data sheets
• Hand tally counters (especially useful for keeping counts of tree surveys)
• Measuring equipment (varies with objectives; may include tape measures,
rangefinders, GPS recievers, etc).

In order to finish this survey:

• We need to measure the area of the forest and divide it into four.
• We count the number of trees and identify their species.
• Record everything.
• Implement forest restoration activities.
DOCUMENTATION Process
• Bind a tie to a location where you will be
measuring.
• Measure the location where you will interlace
the tie.
• Make four quadrants out of it.
• Gather your writing supplies.
• Identify and count the tree species in each
quadrant.
• Compare each tree species in each quadrant.
