SERIES CIRCUIT

Prepared by:
Danilo A. Carceta Jr.
Series Circuit – is a type of circuit
that has 2 or more loads
connected like a chain. The
current is the same throughout
the circuit
Formulas
RT = R1 + R2 + R3 ….
ET = E1 + E2 + E3 ….

IT = I1 = I2 = I3 ….
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
Since IT = I1 = I2 = I3 ….
2 Amp R2 = 100Ω
I1, I2, and I3 is

R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 E3
I2 = 2 Amp RT E2 ET
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
RT = R1 + R2 + R3 ….
R2 = 100Ω
RT = 150Ω + 100Ω + 50Ω
RT = 300Ω
R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 E3
I2 = 2 Amp RT = 300Ω E2 ET
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
E1 = I 1 R 1
E1 = 2Amp x 150Ω R2 = 100Ω
E1 = 300v
R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 = 300v E3
I2 = 2 Amp RT = 300Ω E2 ET
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
E2 = I 2 R 2
E2 = 2Amp x 100Ω R2 = 100Ω
E2 = 200v
R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 = 300v E3
I2 = 2 Amp RT = 300Ω E2 = 200v ET
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
E3 = I 3 R 3
E3 = 2Amp x 50Ω R2 = 100Ω
E3 = 100v
R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 = 300v E3 = 100v
I2 = 2 Amp RT = 300Ω E2 = 200v ET
Example
R1 = 150Ω
IT = 2 Amp
ET = I T R T
ET = 2Amp x 300Ω R2 = 100Ω
ET = 600v
R4 = 200Ω R3 = 50Ω

Look for the following:

I1 = 2 Amp I3 = 2 Amp E1 = 300v E3 = 100v
I2 = 2 Amp RT = 300Ω E2 = 200v ET = 600v
Prepare ½ Sheet of Paper
R1 = 10Ω

R2 = 20Ω

ET = 220v
R4 = 50Ω R3 = 30Ω

Look for the following:

1. RT 3. I1 5. I3 7. E1 9. E3
2. IT 4. I2 6. I4 8. E2 10. E4
1. 110Ω 6. 2 Amp
2. 2 Amp 7. 20v
3. 2 Amp 8. 40v
4. 2 Amp 9. 60v
5. 2 Amp 10. 100v
