USB Light Project

Situation

Your parents are always asking if you are in your room studying or doing your
homework. As a result, your study/ homework time is always interrupted and it
takes a lot longer. It is decided that a sign or some sort of signalling device would
be a good idea.

Brief

Design & construct an ‘edge lit acrylic sign’ that is powered by a USB cable.

Criteria for Success

Aesthetics

uses elements and principles of design in the creation of the acrylic lens
has been produced and finished to a high level

Sustainability

materials have been considered for their environmental sustainability

design of lens has been considered for extended lifespan
USB Light - design
In the boxes below insert your scanned sketches of two options for your USB light
design. Use annotations to explain your ideas and why you have designed it that
way (elements and principle of design, trends, symbolism etc.)
USB Light - sustainability
Use the internet to research and explain the nature of a sustainable forest.

In your opinion, why is it important to support sustainable forestry?

List regions of the world that produce wood-based products through sustainable
forests.
USB Light - procedure
In the space below, detail your exact procedure for the manufacture of your USB
light

Tool List

Steps
1.
USB Light - evaluation
Which element and principles of design have been used and why?

How well is your project finished? Did you face any problems, how did you resolve
these or what would you have done differently?

How does the design of your lens affect the lights lifespan? (Sustainability)
USB Light - Technical
In the space below, insert your scanned Isometric drawing
