Present Tense of the verb

• The present tense is a verb tense used to talk about e


vents happening in the present moment
. It can be formed in three ways:The base form: go,
see, talk, study, etc.
• The base form plus 's' (or 'es') for 3rd person
singular: goes, sees, asks, studies.
• The base form plus 'ing': going, seeing, talking,
studying.
The present tense is used to talk about the
present. There are four present tense forms in
English:
• Present simple: I work
• Present continuous: I am working
• Present perfect: I have worked
• Present perfect continuous: I have been
working
The form of the verb depends on the subject
and the context.

For example, for 3rd person singular subjects,


you add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the base form of the ver
