Chapter 1
In society, technologies are being implemented, including
robots. These robots can do repetitive tasks with more efficiency than
humans and are being considered to replace the current workforce.
However, the implementation of robots may have a negative impact on
the workforce. There is also the general fear of technology and is one of
the issues with the implementation of new technologies. To resolve this,
research has been done to find the positive and negative effects of robots
on the workplace as well as their benefits.
The perceptions of the students regarding a robotic
workforce are different from one another, considering that the
information they've gathered is different too. The study aimed to
distinguish the perceptions about robots replacing the workforce of
Grade 11 STEM students at Pitogo High School. This study’s results can
be utilized by the students, teachers, researchers, and robotic experts as
additional data for future purposes involving a robotic workforce.
Objectives
The primary objective of the study was to determine the
perceptions of Grade 11 Pitogo High School Students on robots replacing
the workforce.

The sub-objective of the study was to answer the following

questions as it was what was used achieve the primary objective:
- Do the Grade 11 students of Pitogo High School agree with robots
replacing the workforce?
-- How do the Grade 11 students of Pitogo High School view the effects
of robots replacing human labor?
-- How do the perceptions of the Grade 11 students of Pitogo High
School on robots replacing the workforce differ from one another?
Conceptual Framework

Mercury Mars
Theoretical Framework

The theoretical framework of this study is Lev Vygotsky’s

Cognitive Development Theory. Vygotsky’s theory explains how people
develop their perceptions based on information they get from varied
sources.
Knowing that different people would have different
perceptions as they consume information from different sources, this
study aims to identify the perceptions on a robotic workforce of grade 11
Pitogo High School students on a positive, negative, and neutral scale
Chapter 2

The researchers reviewed different literatures (Acemoğlu & Restrepo,

2017; Bortot D. et al., 2012; Coats, 2018a, 2018b; De Vries et al., 2020;
Ebel, 1987a, 1987b; Jackson et al., 2019; Lamb, 2016; Mishra
Mercury Marset al.,
2019; Smids, 2020; Smids et al., 2019; Zaharia-Radulescu AM. Et al.,
2017; See also Ebel, 1987).The researchers thus concluded from the
review of different literatures that a robotic workforce has numerous
negative effects. However, it’s advantages are still a debate topic with
researchers continuously researching about its implementation.
Chapter 3

This study utilizes a ground theory design, and revolves

around the use of questionnaires as the primary research tool.
The researchers employed the convenience sampling method to
select the participants for the study. The questions used in this study
were carefully made to figure out the different insights of the respondents regarding the
topic. An approval letter was sent to the Pitogo High School Senior High School
Coordinator before conducting the data gathering
process. The goal is to identify whether the students’ perceptions of
robots replacing the workforce were positive, neutral, or negative.
The data was analyzed with descriptive analysis and the
researchers were able to figure out the perceptions
of the participants from the results.
Chapter 4

This chapter presents the interpretation, and presentation of data obtained

from the survey questionnaires the respondents answered.

In the following pie charts, the yellow section signifies positive

responses, blue for negative and brown for neutral.

the long term? workforce?
Chapter 4

Question 5 Question 6
How do you feel about How do you feel about

Chapter 4

Question 7 Question 8
Do you think it’s safe for How do you feel about
robots to replace the robots doing jobs that are
workforce? dangerous to humans?
Chapter 4

Question 9 Question 10
How do you feel about How do you feel about
statements that say a the assurances regarding

not be implemented? robotic workforce?
Chapter 4

Majority of the questions, 6

questions, had more neutral
responses. 2 questions had
more negative responses
and 1 question had more
positive responses. A
question was evenly split
between positive and
negative thus resulting in a
split opinion as seen by the
15% and 25% result for
positive and negative.
Chapter 5

The questions were not answered in a

one-sided manner. But based on the collected data, most
questions had a majority of neutral responses. Thus the majority
of the perceptions of Grade 11 students in Pitogo High School
about robots replacing the workforce are neutral. The researchers
recommend that future researchers use a larger sample size and
interviews or focus group studies to get more reliable data.
