CHAPTER 1
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of face – face to face learning
modality on the listening skills of senior high school learners. Specifically, this study
aims to know the listening skills of senior high school learners in face – to – face
classes with those of learning modalities.

1. The level of face – to – face classes among senior high school learners?
1.1 Financial
1.2 Academic performance
1.3 Behavior of students

2. What is the level of listening skills in face – to – face classes?

3. Is there a significant relationship between the level of face – to- face classes and
the level of listening skills face – to – face classes?
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The scope of the study will focuses to investigate the impact of the face – to- face
learning modality on the listening skill of senior high school learners. Specifically,
the study will assess the listening skills of 100 respondents, comprising 50 TVL
learners and 50 academic learners, through the implementation of the
face – to – face learning modality. The study will be conducted from January
2023 to August 2023
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study will be significant for the following:
For Administrator – The findings of this study can provide administrator
with valuable insights into the effectiveness of face – to – face learning
modality in improving the listening skills of senior high school learners.
The study’s results can guide administrators in making informed
decision on the location of resources and in implementing
policies they support face – to – face learning modalities.

For Teachers – Teachers can benefit from this study’s findings as they can
improve their teaching practices and develop more effective instructional
strategies to enhance the listening skills of senior high school learners.
The study’s results can also help teachers to identify area of weakness in their
student’s listening skills and develop targeted interventions to address these
areas.
For Students – The study’s results can be beneficial to students by providing them with a better understanding
of the effectiveness of face – to – face learning modality in improving their listening skills. By knowing the
benefits of face – to – face learning modality, students can become more motivated to attend classes and
participate in face – to – face learning activities.

For the High School Department – The results of this study can help the high school department in designing
and implementing effective face – to – face learning programs that meet the needs of senior high school learners.
Additionally, the study’s findings can help the high school department in developing policies that support the
implementation of face – to – face learning modalities.

For Researcher – This study can contribute to the body of knowledge on the impact of face – to – face learning
modality on the listening skills of senior high school learners. The study’s results can guide future research on
the effectiveness of face – to – face learning modalities and provide researchers with a better understanding of
the factors that influence the listening skills of senior high school learners. The study’s findings can also inform
the development of future research projects that investigate the impact of face – to – face learning modality on
other aspects of language learning.
CHAPTER 2
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

The theoretical framework presented above highlights the potential impact of face – to –
face instruction on the listening skill of senior high school learners. The framework draws on
learning theory, language acquisition theory, and communication theory to explain how face -
to – face instruction can enhance the listening skill of senior high school learners by
providing them with more opportunities to interact with their teachers and peers, engage in
meaningful communication, and practice listening skills in real life situations. The framework
can be used to guide future research on the impact of face – to – face instruction on the
listening skill of senior high school learners.

RESEARCH DESIGN
This study utilizes a quantitative research approach with a correlational research design
to examine the relationship between face-to-face learning modality and Listening skills of
senior high school learners of Cronasia Foundation College. The primary focus of the
research is to investigate the impact of face-to-face learning modality on the Listening
skills of senior high school learners of Cronasia Foundation College.
RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

The respondents of this study are exclusively 100 learners of Cronasia Foundation
College Inc. They were selected through a Simple Random Sampling method.

Respondent NO.

Academic 50
TVL 50

TOTAL 100
RESEARCH LOCALE

The research will be conducted at Cronasia Foundation College, Inc. General Santos City provides
TVET courses in Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Eight years later, the
school began offering undergraduate degrees as recognized by the Commission on Higher Education
(CHED).
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
Face-to-face interview is a data collection method when the interviewer directly communicates with the
respondent in accordance with the prepared questionnaire. This method enables to acquire factual
information, consumer evaluations, attitudes, preferences and other information coming out during the
conversation with the respondent. Thus, face-to-face interview method ensures the quality of the obtained
data and increases the response rate.
Face-to-face standardised / semi-standardised interview is a quantitative research tool. Therefore, it is
applied in national or certain region population inquiries, consumer, and customer or reader surveys.
Furthermore, this method is practised when performing Omnibus and Ad Hoc researches
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

This study consists of two survey questionnaires. The first part of the questionnaire assesses the level

of face-to-face class engagement among senior high school students, and it was adopted from

a study conducted by Christopher McGregory. The second part of the questionnaire evaluates the level

of listening skills in face-to-face classes, and it was adapted from a study by J. Field in 2008 on

listening in language classrooms. The survey questionnaires are rated using the Likert scale. The

description is as follows:
Range Scale Description
4.50-5.00 5 Strongly Agree
3.50-4.49 4 Agree
2.50-3.49 3 Neutral
1.50-2.49 2 Disagree
1.00-1.49 1 Strongly Disagree
