At the end of the class students will be able to:
• Introduce the audience interaction.
• Define the audience interaction
• types the audience interaction
• Explain the features of primary group
• Describe the difference between crowd and
audience
INTRODUCTION
AUDIENCE INTERACTION- All the meetings
and gatherings are impossible without audience.
The audience may be active or passive but their
physical presence is needed to organize and
conduct a program.
Audience is an aggregate of people at a
particular place and time it is temporary one. It
gathers for certain purpose, it has it own norms
and maintain some sort of discipline also.
DEFINITION
According to V.V. Akolkar- “An Audience is a
temporary assembly of members who have
gathered for a definite and similar purpose. Each
one comes to the spot on account of his or her
personal interest”
Characteristics
• Specific purpose e.g. witnessing a drama,
listening a poetry recital
• Predetermined time and place
• Audience may laugh and cry during a stage
play
• Interaction between the performer and the
audience
Types
• Audience is classified according to their
purpose of gathering. They are-

1. Information seeking audience-


People gather to get some
information. Their basic sim is to impart some
knowledge e.g. classroom, workshop.

2. Conversational audience-
such audience actively participates in
the discussion about a particular topic.

3. Recreational audience-
such audience they gather together
for some recreational purpose. E.g. cinema,
theatre, sports stadium etc.

4. Religious audience-
This group gathers for religious
purpose or worship. E.g. churches, temples and
mosques etc.

5. Political audience- Political leader address this


audience usually.
Difference between crowd and audience
Crowd Audience
