புந்தியில் வைத்தடி போற்றுகின்றேனே.

நான்கு கரங்களோடு தும்பிக்கையைச் சேர்த்தால்


ஐந்து கரங்கள்
யானை முகம் இருப்பதால் யானை முகத்தனை.
தந்தம் சந்திரனின் இளம் பிறை போல இருக்கிறது.
பரமேச்வர புத்திரன் ஆனபடியால் நந்தி மகன்
நந்தி என்பது ஈச்வரனுக்க ஒரு நாமம்.
ஞானக் கொழுந்தினைப் = ஞானத்தைக் கொடுக்கும் தெய்வம்
ஞானத்தின் முடி நிலையாய் உள்ளவரும்
இப்படிபட்ட மூர்த்தியை சிந்தையில் / புத்தியில் வைத்து
அவனது பாதங்களைப் போற்றி வணங்குகின்றேன்.

शिव षडक्षर स्तोत्रम्
- In शिव षडक्षर स्तोत्रम् 1st letter of each shloka, when arrangeed horizontally we
get: OM namaH shivAya .. (I bow down to Shiva)
- Entire composition is composed to be sung in raga Bhairava. Raga Bhairava is
assumed to be the original creation of music by Shiva through his drum DamarU
- However, each shloka can be sung in the 7 basic ragas of Hindustani classical.
Pundit Bhimsen Joshi has done it. He has sung each sloka in different raga.
- Philosophic comments: Vedic Iconography says: Shiva was a pall of fire
spreading many light years in all direction that emerged just after “quantum
chaos” (Big Bang) at the beginning of the universe.
- Many Sanskrit scholars believe that the ``quantum chaos” (Big Bang) was indeed
the ``pashupata-astra” (पशुपतास्त्र) that Shiva wields.
- Iconographic interpretation of shivlinga as a enormous power locked inside a hard
black stone cooled perpetually by water & guarded vigilantly by Vasuki - the most
venomous snake is also popular, very much resembling modern day Nuclear

Final End, goal, Aim, panacea, Last Resort or Refuge; महापापहरं = (Great Destroyer of

शिवं = Auspicious; शांतं = Tranquil, Full of Peace, Peaceful Mind; जगन्नाथं = जगत् +
नाथ = World + Lord (Lord of creation); लोकानुग्रहकारकम् = लोक + अनुग्रह + कारक =
Praja, People, World + Kindness, Welfare + Maker, Doer, (Works For Welfare of
World); शिवमेकपदं = शिवम् + एक + पदम् = Lord Shiva + One + Word (Shiva is the
Only one Word); नित्यं = Eternal; शिकाराय = (4th Syllable of षडक्षर स्तोत्रम् Om-Na-Ma-Shi-
Va-Ya);
4.1 शिवं शांतं जगन्नाथं = (Salutations to Him) Who is the Most Auspicious, Who is the
Abode of Peace, Who is the Lord of the World,
4.2 लोकानुग्रहकारकम् = Who Works for the Welfare of the World,
4.3 शिवमेकपदं नित्यं, = Who is the One Eternal Word known as Shiva.
4.4 शिकाराय नमो नमः = Salutations to that Shiva, Who is represented by syllable "Shi",

शिवं = Auspicious; शांतं (शान्त) = Tranquil, Full of Peace, Peace of Mind;
जगन्नाथं (Lord of the World) = जगत् + नाथ = World + Lord; लोकानुग्रहकारकम् =
(Works For Welfare of the World) = लोक + अनुग्रह + कारक = World + Kindness,
Welfare + Making, Doing, Acting; शिवमेकपदं = (Shiva is the One Word) = शिव + एक
+ पद = Lord Shiva + One + Word; नित्यं = Eternal; शिकाराय = (4th Syllable of षडक्षर स्तोत्रम्
Om-Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya);
4.1: (Salutations to Him) Who is the Most Auspicious, Who is the Abode of Peace,
Who is the Lord of the World, Who Works for the Welfare of the World,
4.2: Who is the One Eternal Word known as Shiva.

शिवजी शांति का निवास है, जो जगत के स्वामी है और जगत का कल्याण करते है, शिव एक शाश्वत शब्द है, उन शिवजी को नमस्कार, जो “शि” शब्द

वाहनं वृषभो यस्य, वासुकिः कं ठभूषणम् ।
वामे शक्तिधरं देवं वकाराय नमो नमः ॥५॥
वाहनं = Vehicle; वृषभो = Bull; यस्य = Whose; यद् = Who, Which, What;
वासुकिः = king cobra Snake Vasuki; कं ठभूषणम् = कण्ठ + भूषण = Throat, Neck +
Ornament, Embellishment (Ornament of Neck); वामे (वाम) = To the Left;
शक्तिधरं = शक्ति + धर = Goddess + Having, Keeping (Having Goddess);
वकाराय (5th Syllable of षडक्षर स्तोत्रम् Om-Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya;
5.1 वाहनं वृषभो यस्य = (Salutations to Him) Who has a Bull as His Vehicle,
5.2 वासुकिः कं ठभूषणम् = Who has the snake Vasuki as the Ornament of His Neck,
5.3 वामे शक्तिधरं देवं = Who has the Divine Mother Shakti on His Left.

5.4 वकाराय नमो नमः = Salutations to that Shiva, Who is represented by syllable "Va",

यो गुरुः सर्वदेवानां यकाराय नमो नमः ॥६॥
यत्र = Whereever; स्थितो = (स्थित) = Abiding, Staying, Remaining; देवः = God;
सर्वव्यापी = (Pervading Everywhere) = सर्व + व्यापिन् = Every, Whole, Entire +
Pervading, Spreading Everywhere; महेश्वरः = (Great Lord) = महा + ईश्वर = Great +
Master, Lord; यो = Who; गुरुः = Teacher; सर्वदेवानां = (Of All Devas) = सर्व + देव = All +
= Deva, God; यकाराय = 6th Syllable of षडक्षर स्तोत्रम् Om-Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya;
6.1 यत्र यत्र स्थितो देवः = (Salutations to Him), Wherever the Devas Abide,
6.2 सर्वव्यापी महेश्वरः = Who is Present Everywhere
6.3 यो गुरुः सर्वदेवानां = Who is the Guru of All Devas
6.4 यकाराय नमो नमः = Salutations to that Shiva, Who is represented by
syllable "Ya", The 6th syllable of षडक्षर mantra "Om-Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya".
शिव षडक्षर स्तोत्रम्
यत्र यत्र स्थितो देवः सर्वव्यापी महेश्वरः ।
यो गुरुः सर्वदेवानां यकाराय नमो नमः ॥६॥
यत्र = Whereever; स्थितो = (स्थित) = Abiding, Staying, Remaining; देवः = God;

जहां भी देवों का निवास है, शिवजी हर जगह मौजूद है, वो सभी देवों के गुरु है, उन शिवजी को नमस्कार, जो “य” शब्द द्वारा दर्शाया गया है ।६।
