Comparing and
Ordering of Decimal
Numbers
Here is where your presentation begins
There are three ways in comparing decimal
numbers. The first one is by using a number
line for small scale, while the second one is
the difference between numbers and place
value chart for numbers that cannot be
represented in a number line. The third way
is by adding zero to evenly make the digits
of decimal numbers.

In this time of the pandemic, we stayed at home
for us to be safe. It is still not safe to go outside.
There are still many people being affected by
COVID-19. Since we stayed at home, how can we
spend our time wisely?
The table below shows the favorite hobbies of Grade five pupils during
weekends especially in this time of the pandemic.
Favorite Hobbies of Grade Likelihood
Five Pupils During Weekends
Watching TV 10.002
Biking 30.23
Playing Computer Games 35.120
Dancing 15.450
Gardening 5.090
Based on the graph, why do you
think playing computer games is
the highest pupils’ hobby and
gardening was the lowest?
What do you think is the
most enjoyable hobby?
Give your reason.
Is it good for young children to
use too much computer games?
Why?
What is the bad effect of too
much use of gadget?
Comparing and arranging decimals are
some of the techniques to determine the
value of the given decimals. When you
compare numbers, first look at the
number of digits in each number. Then,
compare the place values of the numbers
with the same amount of digits
Let’s Practice:
Compare the following decimals. Write >, <, or = in the
blank.
> 5.18
1. 6.18 _______ >
2. 0.09 _______ 0.14
> 0.554
3. 0.56 _______>
4. 0.64 _______ 0.7
=
5. 7.4 _______ 7.40
Arrange the given decimals in ascending order.
6. 3.21, 3.021, 3.12, 3.121
7. 5.5, 5.059, 5.0090, 5.05
8. 0.09, 0.012, 0.0089, 0.0189
9. 1.3, 1.309, 1.03, 1.39
10. 4.01, 4.0011, 4.011, 4.101
Arrange the given decimals in ascending order.

6. 3.021, 3.12, 3.121 ,3.21

7. 5.0090, 5.05, 5.059, 5.5

9. 1.03, 1.3, 1.309, 1.39
10. 4.01, 4.0011, 4.101, 4.011
Compare the following decimals using the
following:

Raise your chosen answer within 5 seconds.

The table shows decimal numbers that you
will arrange from the least to the greatest
and vice versa. Arrange in the corresponding
column the decimal numbers given in the
first column. An example is provided for you

Remember:
Decimal numbers are compared
using the symbols >,<, or =. It is
arranged from least to greatest
(ascending order) or greatest to
least (descending order) by
comparing decimal numbers first.
Read and solve each problem.
1) Write at least two 3-digit decimals less than 1.
2) Write at least three 2-digit decimals less than 1.
3) Meriam went to the public market in Calbayog City.
While in a multicab, she noticed that she received a
