SITTING OF THE COUNCIL
• Commencement of the sitting: Every sitting of the council shall
commence with a recitation from the Holy Qura’n.
• Sessions Calendar: The Council shall meet at least once in every
month as per session calendar to be approved by the council.
• Sitting of the council: Unless the presiding officer otherwise directs,
the monthly session of the council shall start on the first working day
of the third week of every month.
• During the session, unless otherwise directed by the presiding officer,
the council shall have at least five business hours starting from 1000
hours.

General Provisions Regarding Standing Committees And Committees

1) On a requisition made by not less than three members of a committee, the

chairperson of the committee shall call a meeting of the committee within
seven days from the date of receipt of the requisition
2) The secretary shall send notices of all meetings to the members of the
committee.
3) The quorum to constitute a sitting of a committee shall be three
4) Where the sitting of a committee is adjourned on two successive days for
want of quorum, the chairperson of the committee shall report the fact to
the Presiding Officer.
5) If a member remains absent from three or more consecutive sittings of the
committee without the permission of its chairperson, a motion may be
moved by any member in the council for the discharge of such member
from the committee.
