Background of the
Study
Self-esteem is an aspect of the self-concept that is formed by the
individual's beliefs, attitudes and emotional towards themselves.
It develops throughout childhood and adolescence and is affected
by various environmental factors such as family, friends and
school. Self-esteem levels can change due to various factors such
as physical changes, social relationships, academic performance,
and parental expectations. Students with high self-esteem are
more likely to achieve academic success, feel confident
interpersonal relationships, and exhibit healthy behavior. On the
other hand, low self-esteem has been linked to various negative
outcomes, including academic problems, stress and depression.

Statement of the Problem

• This study aims to determine and understand the factors that influence the
levels of self-esteem among senior high school students. Moreover, this
sought to answer the following questions
1. What is the demographic profile of the students in LTNHS in
terms of sex?
2. What is the stress scale level in terms of male and female?
3. What is the level of self-esteem in LTNHS both male and
female?
4. Is there a significant between the level of self-esteem and the
level of stress scale among senior high school?

Research Design
• This study is under Quantitative Research. Quantitative Research is
defined as a process of collecting and analyzing numerical data. It
can be used to find patterns and averages, make predictions, test
causal relationship and generalize results to under populations
(Pritha Bhandari 2020). Quantitative Research rely inumerical and
measurable data to provide systematic and reliable way to
investigate the research questions and draw conclusions about the
level of self-esteem among senior high school student. The main
objective the data collected is typically numerical and can be
analysed using statistical techniques to identify patterns, trends and
relationship. The main objective ofthis design is to provide a
comprehension descriptionof the variable of interest, such as
demographic profile, behaviour, attitude or opinions.

The respondents will be interviewed in their respective classrooms
and will be surveyed via printed questionaires.

Collection Procedure

• This research will be conducted in La trinidad National High School.

The respondents. will be interviewed in their respective classrooms
and will be surveyed via printed questionaire's. For this research
Simple Random Sampling will be the method used. Simple random
sampling technique is where we select a group of subjects (a
sample) for study from a larger group (a population). Each individual
is chosen entirely by chance and each member of the population has
an equal chance of being included in the sample. Every possible
sample of a given size has the same chance of selection.
(http://www.stat.yale.edu/Courses/1997-98/101/sample.htm). The
study will be conducted in the second semester of the academic year
2023-2024.
Data Analysis

• The data gathered will be interpreted, categories and

tabulated. Frequently count and averaging were used to
determine the stress level and level of self-esteem of the
Grade 11 students. To interpret the frequency of stress
level of the Grade 11 students.
Data Analysis
The formula use:

WM = weighted mean
F = number of occurrences
X = Weight

interpret the data gathered in determining the level of
stress the student's academic performance.
