The teacher will be presenting you pictures of
seasons in our globe. Each picture has its own name. You
will guess what kind of season that was meant by the
picture.

What have you observed from the activity?

Do you know what are the factors that can affect our climate?

what is the definition of climate?

Climate - is the long-term pattern of weather in a
particular area.
Weather can change from hour-hour, month – month, or even
year- year. A weather’s pattern usually tracked for at least 30
years, are considered as climate.
Factors that affects the Climate
 Latitude
 Altitude
 Topography
 Ocean current
LATITUDE
Our globe is tilted in 23.5 degrees
When the air temperature is lower
and when the place is closer to the
equator, the air temperature is
higher.
Altitude
The air temperature decreases as the altitude
increases.
For every 1000m, there is a drop of 6.5 degrees
Celsius.
At higher elevation, there is less air. The air
molecules are farther apart, thus making the air less
dense. Lighter air cannot absorb much heat, making
air temperature lower.
Topography
The wind from the left side of the
mountain carrying warm moist air is called
windward side.
As it goes up, the water vapor condenses and
forms a cloud.
As the air goes down, the cold air mass starts to
absorb heat and becomes warm and dry. This
side is called leeward side.
Ocean current
In the northern hemisphere, the ocean current
moves clockwise. On the other hand, in the
southern hemisphere, the movement of the current
is counterclockwise. This movement is cause by
Coriolis Effect, a force that affects a moving body
over a rotating body.
Climate Change

Is climate change real?

Global warming can bring out a rising of sea level due to the melting of
ice and glaciers. We may experience severe weather disturbances such as
strong typhoons and heavy rainfalls.
The heat is supposed to escape from the earth.
Now these gases from the atmosphere are
preventing the heat to scape from the earth
thus, making the earth’s temperature higher.

When the industrial revolution began, more

carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses
threatened all living things.
What do you think may happen if there is too much carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere?
El Niño - occurs when the surface water in the equatorial pacific
becomes warmer and the east wind blows weaker than normal.

La Niña - occur when the water is cooler than normal and the east
wind are stronger.
You will be creating a slogan about climate change. Like for example, “The future
is in our hands”. You will be given 5 minutes for making a slogan then you will
present it in front why did you choose that slogan.

years from now, what will happen to our environment if the climate change still
occurs?”. Also write a strategic plan on how to help and adapt the effects of
climate change.
