 Students are not allowed to bring cell phones. Once confiscated, the items will be
returned at the last day of the school year. In case of emergency, telephone hotline in the
office may be used.
 If any gadget will be used for a class or school-related activity or for emergency that
necessitates the use of a mobile phone or electronic gadget, parents must send a note
addressed to the level coordinator or principal explaining the reason for bringing the
said item to school. It should be surrendered to the Prefect of Discipline’s Office before
the first period or first subject and be kept there throughout the day, when it is not
needed. When properly surrendered and used only for its purpose in the lesson/ activity,
the gadget will be returned to the student at dismissal time.
 During out of school and week-end activities, students may bring a mobile phone for
communication purposes provided they assume full responsibility against losses and
improper use of the gadget.
 If there is a special need to bring mobile phones in school, mobile phones should be
surrendered to their advisers. Advisers are only responsible for safe keeping and not for
any damage.
PERSONAL TECHNOLOGY USE

students. Parents should look for the reunification area so that students can be signed
out in an orderly manner.

HOMEWORK
Homework will be given on an as needed basis, or if your child
does not complete the required amount of work during class
instruction. Each student is responsible for completing his or her
assignments and for turning them in on time. If homework is
turned in late, it will affect your student’s grade.

When homework is sent home with your student, please initial

the student’s handbook on the corresponding date of the
homework prior to sending it back to school with your child to
verify that you have seen the homework
FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are planned every other year for various academic
enrichment and extracurricular purposes. . Parents may be asked
to assist in paying for field trips. Parents will receive advance
notice of all such trips. A permission slip must be signed by a
student’s parent/guardian for the student to participate in a field
trip. Students without signed permission slips will remain at the
school to attend their class.
FIELD TRIPS
Occasionally, parents will be needed to accompany their child on
class field trips especially for pre-elementary to grade 3 students.
The primary responsibility of the parents in assisting their child is
to ensure appropriate supervision for students. Parental
chaperones are asked to take this responsibility seriously and to
remain vigilant and attentive to the students’ needs throughout
the trip. Babies and children who are not enrolled in the class
may not accompany the chaperones
REPORT CARDS
At the end of each quarter, parents can view the report cards with
cumulative data on their children’s performance and progress at
the Parent-Student Portal. Parents must set an appointment with
the student’s adviser regarding the progress of his son/daughter.
Printed report cards are issued at the end of each school year or
upon request.
REMEDIAL CLASSES
Any student who receives a quarterly grade of 74.99 and lower in
academic subjects is required to attend the after-class remediation
program. The Principal or the Instructional Coordinator arranges
the schedule of classes. A minimal fee is charged per subject to
cover honorarium of teachers who will handle the said program.
The fee must be paid to the Cashier’s Office only.
ATTENDANCE
Regular school attendance is essential. As a rule, absences should occur only
as a result of illness or injury. Doctor’s appointments should be scheduled
outside of the school day. When an absence is planned, it is helpful if the
teacher is informed as far in advance as possible. Tardiness has the same
impact as an absence. It is a loss of instructional time. IF A STUDENT IS
ABSENT, we ask that the parent call the school before the session begins. A
written excuse giving the date of the absence and the reason is required
after any absence or tardiness if no phone call is received. Absences must be
excused within 48 hours, or they are considered unexcused.
TARDINESS
Instruction at SJISC begins promptly based on the schedule given
to your son/daughter, and it is critical that all students be
prepared to begin instruction on time. A student who is late
misses valuable instructional time and conveys an unacceptable
lack of regard for the school.
ABSENCES
Parents must contact the school office by phone whenever a child
is going to be absent and send a written excuse to the teacher
when the child returns to school. The school has a dedicated
phone line 049 531-3190.

The following reasons are sufficient cause for an excused

absence: a.) illness, b.) death in the family, c.) inclement weather,
which would be dangerous to the life or health of the child, d.)
legal quarantine, e.) emergency conditions as determined by the
Principal or Guidance Coordinator and f.) prior permission from
the Principal or Guidance Coordinator and consent from the legal
guardian.
ABSENCES
If extraordinary circumstances require that the student be absent from
school, an Authorized Absence Plan may be developed jointly by the teacher,
the Guidance Coordinator, and the student’s parent or legal guardian. The
plan will define the length of the absence and how the student will make-up
the work he or she will miss. The plan must be approved and signed by the
principal and the parent/guardian prior to the student’s absence.

If a student returns to school after an absence without a note of explanation

from the parent, the teacher will call the parent to remind him or her to send
a note the following day. If a note is not received within two school days of
the absence, the absence will be regarded as unexcused. No special quizzes
are given for excused and unexcused absences. Special Long Test, and
Performance tasks are given for excused absence.
EARLY DISMISSAL
If it is necessary for a student to be dismissed from school before
the end of the school day, parents must notify the school office the
day before the early dismissal. In such cases, parents must inform
the school of the specific time that the child will be picked-up and
the person who will come for the child. Only adults who are
listed in the school’s records as being authorized will be allowed
to take students from the school in these cases
ACCIDENTS
A trained staff member will administer initial treatments of minor
injuries. The student’s emergency contact will be notified
immediately by phone and whenever medical treatment is
administered to a student, and an Incident Report. In such cases, it
is especially crucial that the school has working phone numbers
for students’ parents and for alternate contacts if a parent is
unavailable. In case the parents are unavailable and cannot be
reached by phone, the school has the right to bring the student to
the hospital.
ILLNESS OF YOUR CHILD
For the protection of your child and others, students who are ill should stay
home. If a student becomes ill during the school day, the parent or guardian
will be notified to pick up the student. If a parent cannot be reached, the
emergency contact person will be notified Any student with the following
symptoms or communicable diseases should not be sent to school, and will
be sent home:
 Fever of 37.5 degrees C
 Severe nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
 Suspicious skin rash
 Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
 Impetigo
 Chicken Pox
 Scabies
 Other symptoms which may interfere with student’s learning and classroom performance
ILLNESS OF YOUR CHILD
We encourage parents to administer necessary medications to
their children at home if possible. When medications must be
administered during the school day, the medication must be
delivered to the School Nurse in the original container, properly
labelled by the pharmacy or physician, stating the name of the
student, the medication, the dosage, and current date. Prior to
administering the medication, the parent must complete and sign
a medication permission form.
LUNCH, SNACKS & PARTIES IN SCHOOL
 All children eat at school whether they buy or bring their lunch.
Parents are not allowed to assist their son/daughter in eating
their food.
 Snacks/lunch should be brought to school by the student.
Parents are not allowed to bring the snack/lunch of their child in
the classroom.
 Birthday parties must be reserved 2 days before at the
guidance coordinator’s office. The guidance coordinator will set
the time for the party to avoid interruption of classes.

appropriate for a school setting, should not be worn inside the
school.

activities inside the school. Below are the unacceptable clothing and footwear:
 flip flops, slippers
 Pajamas
 Dancing and gym outfits
 clothing that advertises by name or symbol any products that are not permitted
in schools, including, but not limited to the following: drugs, alcohol, profanity or
suggestive slogans, tobacco, obscenity, violence or gangs.
 mini-skirts and shorts
 halter or tube tops, split sides, spaghetti tops, bare shoulder tops, see through
clothing, fish net tops
 tattoos must not be visible
 Clothing exposing cleavage, midriff and undergarment
PROGRAMS AND OTHER
ACTIVITIES
 Parents are required to cooperate and observe proper
discipline during school programs.
 Taking of pictures beyond the gated area is strictly prohibited.
Only the school’s official photographer is allowed to take
pictures to maintain the orderliness during school program
PARENTS’ PROPER COURTESY,
RESPECT, REVERENCE AND ORDER
Parents should observe utmost courtesy and good manners in dealing with
faculty, fellow parents, and school personnel.
 Parents should be refined in their speech and should refrain from any
disruptive behavior like gossiping and bad behavior.
 Entering inside the classroom or school premises are not allowed.
 Respect should be exercised when dealing to the school staffs such as
cashier, janitor, canteener, and guard.
 Teacher’s time is so valuable, as is all of our time. Let’s not grab our
teacher for just a “quick minute,” but instead, schedule a teacher
conference.
PARENTS’ PROPER COURTESY,
RESPECT, REVERENCE AND ORDER
 Avoid communicating using social media like Facebook and messenger.
 Please don’t walk your child to the classroom if late. Just simply let your
child check into the office and then walk themselves to their classroom.
The less disruption to the class, the better.
 Sometimes things happen when you are late picking up your child from
school. Hopefully, it’s a rare occasion. However, it we are late, it is polite
to apologize to the teacher that has to stay late too and miss working time
in the classroom. Remember, proper etiquette means we strive to always
be on time. Usually when we are late, we cause interruption in someone
else’s schedule. Just be considerate of this.
PARENTS’ PROPER COURTESY,
RESPECT, REVERENCE AND ORDER
 Be very cautious when you are in the hallways at your child’s
school and speak in soft hushed tones. If you need to take a
phone call, step outside.
 A great way to support our teachers is to make sure we are
fully engaged in our children’s education. This means we need
to know what’s going on and what they’re studying. We need
to work with our children in the academic subjects that need
improvement. We need to help our children become
responsible in keeping up with their assignments, goals, and
projects.
PARENTS’ PROPER COURTESY,
RESPECT, REVERENCE AND ORDER
 Let’s be polite, courteous, and gracious at all times with our
teachers. Yes, there may be occasions when we disagree with
a grade, an assignment, or perhaps a disciplinarian action,
however we can show respect and integrity when we approach
our teachers assuming each other’s intentions are always with
the student’s best interest at heart.
 Parents are not allowed to bring cigarettes, gun, and the likes
during school program.
FAPE-ESC (Fund Assistance to Private Education-
Education Service Contracting)
This is awarded to any qualified Grade 7 students as long as they meet the
requirements for regular promotion to each succeeding school years. The
grant is a tuition fee subsidy and the grantee has to pay top-ups (the
differential between the grant and the school’s actual tuition and other fees).

The ESC grants shall cover the four years of secondary education from grade
7 to 10, meaning they can start only at the Grade 7 level. No new grants shall
be awarded at higher grade/year levels. The grant is deemed renewed for
the next school year if the student is promoted to the next grade/year level
and enrolls in the same school.
EARLY RELEASE/
SHORTEN PERIOD
SJISC incorporates in-service and staff development days
throughout the school year. These days are over and above the
201 instructional days in the school calendar. Parents will be
notified for early release dates or shorten periods. In such case, it
is the responsibility of the parents to fetch their children or inform
the school service for the early dismissal of their child.
PARENTAL QUESTIONS AND
CONCERNS
Parents who have questions and/or concerns are requested to resolve it at the most
appropriate and immediate level. For typical classroom matters, the following
procedures should apply in order as needed:

Step 1. The parent discusses the matter with the subject teacher and the adviser.
Step 2. The parent, subject teacher, and the adviser meet with the Level Coordinator
if the matter is not resolved in step 1.
Step 3: The parent, subject teacher, and the adviser, and the level coordinator meet
with the principal or school directress if the matter is not resolved in step 2.
Step 4: Those matters which cannot be resolved at the school level are referred to
the DISTRICT Superintendent’s Office
PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION
(PTO)
The PTO, an organization of parents and teachers, works for a
better school environment by providing both financial and
volunteer support for our school programs. It is a non-profit, non-
partisan, and non-sectarian organization. It cooperates with the
school to support the improvement of education in ways that will
not interfere with the education of students or the mission of the
school and does not seek to control school policies.
TELEPHONE MESSAGES
For Teacher
To avoid disrupting instructional time, only emergency messages
will be delivered to teachers in classrooms. All other messages
will be given during the break.

For Students
Due to classroom transitions throughout the school day, it is not
always possible to relay phone messages to students. To avoid
disrupting instructional time, only emergency messages will be
delivered directly to classrooms. All other messages will be
relayed to the adviser.
