Climate Change

Dev Vrath
What is climate change?
 Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures
and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since
the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of
climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels
(like coal, oil, and gas), which produce heat trapping gas
called greenhouse gasses.

Clearlyas the years go by the

number of emissions has increased
The highest level of gas emissions
was in 2015
Carbon dioxide has always been the
highest contributor of gas emmisions
What are greenhouse gasses and how do
they affect us?
 Greenhouse gases also known as GHGs are gases in the earth's
atmosphere that trap heat. During the day, the sun shines through
the atmosphere, warming the earth's surface. At night, earth's
surface cools, releasing heat back into the air. But some of the heat
is trapped by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There are
many gasses that make the greenhouse gasses however the main
ones are Carbon Dioxide, Methane, and Nitrous Oxide.
How to solve the problem of climate change.
 Much of our electricity and heat is powered by coal, oil
and gas. Use less energy by lowering your heating and
cooling, switching to LED light bulbs and energy-
efficient electric appliances, washing your laundry with
cold water or hanging things to dry instead of using a
dryer.
