context
1. Intrapersonal communication – this
refers to communication that centers
on one person where the speaker
acts as both the sender and the
receiver.
Example:

You spent the night thinking and


analyzing why a student from the
other class talked to you in the way
home and you decided it probably
meant nothing.
2. Interpersonal Communication

This refers to communication


between and among people and
establishes personal relationship
between and among them.
Types of Interpersonal
a. Dyad Communication –
communication that occurs between
two people.
Example: you offered feedback on the
speech of your classmate.
Types of Interpersonal
b. Small group– communication that
occurs between three to twelve
people.
Example: organizational meeting
3. Public– this communication requires
you to deliver or send the message
before or in front of a group.
Example: Delivering a speech
4. Mass Communication– this refers to
communication that takes place
through telivision, newspaper, radio,
magazines, books, billboards,
internet and other types of media
Example: news report
TYPES OF
SPEECH STYLE
Consultative – this style is the standard one.
Professional or mutually acceptable
language is a must in this style.

Examples: Conversation between:

a. Teachers – students
b. Doctors- patient
c. Judge – lawyer
d. President - constituents
Formal – this style used formal settings. Unlike
the consultative style, this is one- way.
Examples:
a. Sermons by priests
b. State of the Nation Address of the Pres.
c. Formal speeches
d. Pronouncements of judge
Frozen – this style is “frozen” in time and
remains unchanged. It mostly occurs in
ceremonies.
Examples:
a. Preamble of the constitution
b. Lord’s Prayer
c. Allegiance/pledge to the Flag
