ABOUT SUSPENSION
• Suspension is the system of tires, tire air, springs, shock absorbers and linkages
that connects a vehicle to its wheels and allows relative motion between the two
Suspension systems must support both road holding/handling and ride quality
ABOUT BEVEL GEAR
• Bevel gears are useful when the direction of a shaft's rotation needs to be changed.
They are usually mounted on shafts that are 90 degrees apart, but can be designed
to work at other angles as well. The picture on the right shows how bevel gears are
used to change direction. They change the transmission of the power or torque from
one plane to another , which is different from conventional gears that transfer
rotations within a single two dimensional plane.
• Bevel gears are gears where the axes of the two shafts intersect and the tooth-
bearing faces of the gears themselves are conically shaped. Bevel gears are most
often mounted on shafts that are 90 degrees apart, but can be designed to work at
other angles as well. The pitch surface of bevel gears is a cone, known as a pitch
cone. Bevel gears change the axis of rotation of rotational power delivery and are
widely used in mechanical settings.
• Two important concepts in gearing are pitch surface and pitch angle. The pitch
surface of a gear is the imaginary toothless surface that you would have by
averaging out the peaks and valleys of the individual teeth. The pitch surface of an
ordinary gear is the shape of a cylinder. The pitch angle of a gear is the angle
between the face of the pitch surface and the axis.
