JOB ANALYSIS
CRITERIA FOR CLASSIFYING A
JOB

used to categorize jobs within an
organization. Factors such as level of
responsibility, complexity of tasks,
required skills and qualifications, and

SELECTION
PROCESS
LINE MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR INTERVIEWS THE BEST
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS

1. The predetermined number of qualified job applicants for a given

position is sent for an interview.
2. A list of preference ranking the order of choices is sent to the Human
Resource Manager.
3. The job applicant listed as first choice is notified and told to report to
the medical clinic or a hospital for pre-employment medical
examination.
4. If applicant qualifies the examination the others are notified that they
are in the “waiting list” of qualified applicants.
5. When vacancy would exist they would be notified to come.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION
• In other companies, the job applicant is only required to have a chest x-ray,
stool examination, urinalysis, and a physical examination.
• Requiring a medical examination as a condition for employment serves the
interests of both the organization and the employee.
• On the part of the organization, it is a device to ascertain that only
medically and physically fit people are employed. This reduces cost and
problems which results when employees are sick and absent from the
job.
• On the part of the employees, it protects their life and assures safety on
the job as the medical examination serve to eliminate the possibility of
sick persons working with them.
PLACEMENT OF THE NEW EMPLOYEE

• The length of familiarization activities vary from one

day to a week. For some companies, the new
employee is given an employee manual, printed
materials, lectures, visual aid presentation covering
subjects as:
PLACEMENT OF THE NEW EMPLOYEE

1. Company history, objectives, personnel program, policies, strategies, rules and

procedures.
2. Career development plan for the new employee is made, (Figure 3.5)
3. Description of job duties and responsibilities.
4. Relationship with immediate supervisor and human resource department.
5. Rules and regulations covering terms and conditions of employment.
6. Payment of salaries or wages.
7. Employee benefits provided.
8. If the company is unionized, relationship between the management and the labor union.
Finally, the new employee is made to report to work. His or her immediate supervisor will
be the person who selected him or her for the vacant job in the work unit. With this done,
the task of employee recruitment, selection, and placement is finished.

SUMMARY
SUMMARY

Human Resource Planning (HRP): This is an ongoing, data-driven

process where a company systematically plans for the future in terms of
human resources to ensure that available jobs are suited with
appropriately skilled employees. It involves linking business strategies
to future manpower needs, forecasting labor demand and supply, and
laying down the HR plan to meet the labor needs.
SUMMARY
Recruitment: This is the process of attracting qualified individuals and
encouraging them to apply for work with the organization. Effective
recruitment strategies can help the organization attract top talent.
Selection: This involves choosing the most suitable candidates from
those recruited. It’s a crucial step because hiring the wrong person can
be costly for the organization. The selection process might include
steps like preliminary interviews, employment tests, and background
checks.
Placement: Once the selection process is complete, the chosen
candidates are placed into their new roles within the organization.
Placement involves matching the skills and qualifications of the
employee to the requirements of the job
