INTRODUCTION:
 Cabbages have a lot of different types. One is the Napa Cabbage, widely known
as Chinese cabbage with its scientific name Brassica Rapa. It is commonly eaten
as a vegetable that gives many benefits such us; strengthening the immune
system, promoting healthy digestion, fighting fatigue and anemia.
 Pechay can be grown on a wide variety of soil, ranging from sandy loam to
textured loam; prefers a soil pH of 6.5 to 7.5, enough sunlight, good soil aeration
and an average of 15°C to 22°C temperature throughout its early growth.
 Chicken manure has been used for decades as a fertilizer and soil amendment for
growing a wide range of vegetables crops because it contains the macronutrients
nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and important micronutrients such as calcium
needed for healthy plant growth. Also, being a soil amendment; it adds organic
matter to the soil, which improves soil structure, moisture-holding, drainage
capability, and aeration.
 It is said that chicken manure has more advantages in fertilizing than other
manure. Knowing how suitable chicken manure is in pechay as its fertilizer.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1. What is the effect of chicken manure on the growth of pechay in terms of:
a. Number of leaves
b. Plant height
c. Weight
2. Is there a significant difference between control setups and experimental setups
using chicken manure fertilizer?
HYPOTHESIS
ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS- There is a significant difference between the controlled
setups and experimental setups for using chicken manure as fertilizer.
NULL HYPOTHESIS- There is no significant difference between the controlled setups
and experimental setups for using chicken manure as fertilizer.
SIGNIFICANce OF THE STUDY
The result of this study will benefit the following:
Students – This study will contribute to all students as their guide in using organic
can help the the growth of pechay.
Farmers – In can help the farmers to have an idea to use chicken manure as
organic fertilizer.
Teacher- This study will help them gain information about the use of chicken
manure that can thought to the students as a substitute for fertilizing.
Researcher- The findings of this study will benefit them by improving their
awareness of using chicken manure as organic fertilizer that can be widely used
by the community and also gain knowledge about the importance of chicken
manure.
Future Researcher- This research can be used as a reference for future
researcher whose focus on the same field of study.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Pechay. Is a leafy vegetables that is commonly used in Asian cuisine, particularly in
Filipino dishes. Pechay is rich in vitamin A, C, and K, as well as calcium, iron and
folate.
Chicken manure. Refers to fecal matter excreted by chickens, which is often used
as fertilizer due to its high nitrogen content.
Organic Fertilizer. Is a type of fertilizer made from natural resources such as
animal manure, plant material, or compost, it is a sustainable and environmentally
friendly option that improves soil health and promotes plant growth.
Fertilizing. Refers to the application of material of substances to soil or plants to
provide
essential nutrients that are necessary for their growth and development.
RELATED LITERATURE
 According to the study of Rhoades (2018), fertilizing is one of the most important
parts of gardening. Chicken manure is an organic fertilizer that is rich in nitrogen
and no doubt consists a good amount of the elements potassium and phosphorus. It
helps a plant convert other nutrients into usable building blocks to grow.
 According to Renee(2018), vegetables is high in folic acid and rich in vitamin K. It
also has a good calcium source that keeps the bone strong. Whether it will serve be
in salad or to be added in smoothie.
 According to Delpha (2008), plants applied chicken dung produce the tallest plants,
30 days after planting with mean of 58.50cm. The shortest are plants in treatment a
no application of organic fertilizer with means of 51.01cm 40 days after planting,
the tallest plants are obtained from plants in treatment with 119.67cm.
 According to horan et al..(2004), organic fertilizer inputs in agricultural fields in the
present scenario have significant environmental benefits over the use of chemical
fertilizers and the practices have gained much importance.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
The conceptual framework shows the relation of the variables. It includes the
controlled, independent, and dependent variables of the study.

Independent
Dependent variables
variables  Numbers of leaves
 Plants height
Application of chicken  Weight
manure as organic fertilizer

Controlled variables
1. Pechay
2. Four(4) plot
3. Ten (10) sample per plot
4. Locate of samples
RESEARCH DESIGN
The experimental research design was used to determine the effect of chicken manure
as an organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of pechay. Furthermore, experimental
research design with Randomized Complete Block Design(RCBD) was used with the four
plots and ten samples per lot of pechay. The two plots of pechay have organic fertilizer
and the other two plots of pechay were controlled.
SUBJECT OF THE STUDY
Pechay was used as the subject. The effect of chicken manure as organic fertilizer on
the growth of pechay plants was experimented with and observed. The main objects of
this study are to know the effect of chicken manure as an organic fertilizer on pechay.
DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT
The data was gathered through checklist paper containing the date to be gathered
during the experiment while the number of leaves and plant was measured quickly. The
weight was measured after harvesting. A chart was usend which contains different
schedules to follow in conducting the study.
Experimental layout
The Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) is used in this study, the experiment layout of this
study was conducted at Don Servillano Platon Memorial National High School.

INSTRUMENT OF THE STUDY
Pechay vegetable is easy to grow when it comes to care because it does not need
much time and effort. And when it comes to care less time accommodation before you
can harvest your crops. After you plant care, it is time for you to harvest for more or
less than a month or approximately 35 days.
STATISTICAL TOOLS
The means for the height, number of leaves, and weight of harvested pechay plants
were calculated separately. The sample standard deviation was also calculated using
the calculated means of the different factors of the plant growth rate. The T-test was
used to determined if there was any significant difference between two treatment’s
effects on plants growth.
A. Weighted mean. Was used to determine the general average of pechay in terms of
the number of leaves, plant height, and weight.
B. Average mean of length. Was used to determines the height of pechay.
C. Counting the leaves. Was used to determine the total number leaves of pechay
