for rejecting the counter
argument.

claim and summarizes.
Informative Writing
a writing that is designed to inform the

explanatory writing.
A writing style that demands thoroughly
educate the reader on the given topic
without including your own opinions.
TYPES OF INFORMATIVE
WRITING
Description Essay - detailed description of something—generally a place or
object, but possibly something more abstract like an emotion.
Compare and contrast Essay- points out the similarities and differences between
two or more subjects.
Problem and Solution Essay- consider the problems of a particular situation, and
give solutions to those problems.
Cause and Effect Essay- explores how an event or situation came into being (the
cause) and what happens or transpires because of that event or situation (the
effect).
Process Essay - shows and explains how something works or how to do
something.

Literary Criticism
is the comparison, analysis,

interpretation, and or
evaluation of works of
literature.
Formalist Approach
-holds that the true meaning of a text.
It focuses on the text itself. It
includes the Form, Organization
and Structure Word choice and
language Multiple meanings.
Historical Approach
- tries to understand a book or
story by looking at the time and
place it was written.
It also looks at the author's life
and surroundings.
Reader-Response Approach
- it refers to the initial
response of the readers. It is
concerned with how the work
is viewed by the audience.
Marxist Approach
A type of literary criticism based on
the writings of German Philosopher
Karl Marx.
It focuses on the struggles between
capitalists and the working class.
Moralist Approach
a type of literary critique
that judges the value of the
literature based on its moral
lessons or ethical teachings.
Feminist Approach
-focuses on female representation
in literature, paying attention to
female point of view, concerns,
and values; empowering women.

-it is a systematic, formal, and
precise process employed to gain
solutions to problems or to
discover and interpret new facts
and relationships.
RESEARCH PROBLEM
-it refers to the statement about
an area of concern or a condition
to be improved that points to the
need for understanding and
deliberate investigation.
DATA
-it is any information that has
been collected, observed,
generated, or created to
validate original research
findings.
EXPERIMENT
-it is a procedure carried out
to support, refute, or validate
a hypothesis.
VALIDITY
-it refers to how accurately a
method measures what it is
intended to measure.

-it is a brief outline of the
most important studies that
have been conducted so far
presented in chronological
order.
METHODOLOGY
-it refers to the specific
procedures or techniques
used to identify, select,
process, and analyze
information about a topic.
ABSTRACT
-it is a summary of a research
article, thesis, review, conference
proceeding, or any in-depth
analysis of a particular subject.
QUESTIONNAIRE
-it is a research instrument
consisting of a written series of
questions to gather information
from respondents/participants.
RECOMMENDATION
-it refers to the specific
actions that can be taken
based on your findings.
