 Mount Fuji has erupted 18 times in history, with an average of one eruption every
100 years. The last large-scale eruption was in 1707, more than 300 years ago.
Type of Volcano
There are two main forms of volcanoes: one is a broad dome-shaped shield
volcano, and the other is a strato volcano with steep and conical slopes.
Shield volcanoes are formed by the accumulation of layers of highly fluid lava.
Because the lava can flow for a long distance before it hardens, it forms a low
dome-shaped mountain, like an upside-down saucer. Although the slopes of the
shield volcano are relatively gentle, the volcano itself is very huge. The Mauna
Kea volcano in Hawaii, USA is such a volcanic form.
The formation of strato volcanoes is more complicated, it is formed by the
continuous eruption cycle of volcanoes. Alternately spewing lava, ash, and other
solid matter from the crater creates a steep slope of lava, a layer of debris, and
sometimes lava from side craters, which creates a small chasm on the slope.
Volcanic cones, but on the slopes of some strato volcanoes, there are no
parasitic volcanic cones to destroy the beautiful scenery, like Mount Fuji in Japan
Formation of Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji is about 10000
years ago. The Izu Peninsula,
which used to be an island,
was uplifted when it collided
with Honshu Island due to
changes in the crust active

Eruptions
These thicker lavas, andesite
and dacite, allow gas pressures
To build up to high levels which
Results in explosive eruptions.
Effects of volcanic eruptions
Hazards of Mt. Fuji eruption the eruption of Mount Fuji in 864 caused an earthquake, and the
smoke cloud that came out prevented people from approaching. When Mount Fuji erupted in
1707, it erupted as much as 800 million cubic meters of volcanic ash, and the falling volcanic
ash was a full 5cm thick.
Volcanic ash will also spread into the air, sharply reducing the visibility of the sky and roads,
which will directly affect the suspension of aircraft, and the roads will be blocked. Cars, trains,
and high-speed rails will not be able to pass through, causing traffic paralysis, cutting off
roads, and possibly damaging power generation equipment and The communication
infrastructure has caused problems in local electricity and communication.
In addition, volcanic ash carries a large amount of fine substances. If it enters the human
respiratory system, it will cause serious physical problems. The eruption of Mount Fuji will
also trigger a certain scale of earthquakes, pollute nearby water sources, block rivers, and
cause a large number of floods. Moreover, Japan has a small land area and is surrounded by
the sea. The earthquake triggered by the volcanic eruption may generate a tsunami, causing
tens of millions of people to be affected. What is even more worrying for the Japanese is that
the eruption of Mount Fuji will affect the Tokyo economic circle less than 100 kilometers
away from Mount Fuji within 3 hours. There are more than 30 million people living in it.
Cilmbing Mount Fuji
Early July to mid September is the official climbing season when the
trails and mountain facilities are open. During this period the mountain
is usually free of snow, the weather is relatively mild, access by public
transportation is easy, and the mountain huts are operating.

Peak season : from around July 20 to the end of August

Peak of the peak : during the Obon Week in mid August
Off-season : before the start of the official climbing
season until around mid September
Way To See Mount Fuji
It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures
and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.

Another easy way to view Mount Fuji is from the train on a trip
between Tokyo and Osaka. If you take the shinkansen from Tokyo in the
direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of the mountain
can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of
the train, about 40-45 minutes into the journey.
