Legacy
Something that is transmitted by or received from an ancestor
or predecessor from the past. It may be of one’s faith,
ethics and core values. May be monetary or assets or it
may come from one’s character, reputation and the life you
lead- setting an example for others and to guide their
futures. Ex: The war left a legacy of pain and suffering.
Her artistic legacy lives on through her children.
According to functionalist George Murdock, a
family is defined as “a social group
characterized by common residence,
economic cooperation and reproduction. It
includes adults and both sexes, at least two
of whom maintain a socially approved
sexual relationship and one or more
children, own and adopted of the sexually
cohabiting adults.”
● Traditional Family Structure on the other hand is
considered a family support system which involves two
married individuals providing care and stability for their
biological offspring.

Why is it important to be aware of differences
between families?
How will you differentiate legacy from
traditions?
Tradition is a belief or behavior (folk custom)
passed down a group or society with symbolic
meaning or special significance with origins in
the past. A component of folklore, common
examples include holidays or impractical but
socially meaningful clothes and etc. It can be a
Christmas tradition, fiesta tradition etc. While
legacy is something left or handed down by a
predecessor or an amount of money or property
left to someone in a will.
3-Generation Family Tree

Based on the topic we tackled, I want you to create your 3-Generation

Family tree. (Refers to multigenerational family households where 2 or
more adult generations live together under the same roof; this generally
includes a grandparent, parent and child. The top-level of any family
tree is the 1st generation, next down is their children making up the 2nd
generation and then you as the 3rd generation) Please paste the pictures
of your family members for better identification. Always remember this
rules in making a family tree.
3-Generation Family Tree

 The male is always at the left of the family and the female is always
at the right of the family.
 In the case of ambiguity, assume a male-female relationship, rather
than male-male or female-female relationship.
 A spouse must always be closer to his/he first partner, then the
second partner (if any), third partner, and so on...
 The oldest child is always at the left his family, the youngest child is
always at the right his family.
