INTRODUCTION

• A bridge is a structure built to span a body of water, valley, road or any other physical
obstacles, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacles.
• Bowstring bridge is a type of arch bridge which eliminates the horizontal forces at
abutment.
• This project proposes a new bowstring bridge at Neriamangalam, parallel to the
existing one as a part of expansion of the existing road.
• It carries out the modelling and analysis of bowstring bridge using SAP 2000
Software. We are modelling a bowstring bridge of span 42.8m.
