society which results to
rebellion, ritualism, innovation,
and retreatism.
Every society has a set of norms that
people are expected to follow. The
violation of social norms is called
deviance.
 REBELLION
• It involves challenging
the rules or objectives
themselves.
 RITUALISM
• It is when someone rejects
traditional cultural goals, but
still adhere to the usual steps to
obtaining those goals.
 INNOVATION
• It is when an individual accept
the culturally approved goals but
not the socially approved means
for reaching the goals.
RETREATISM
• It could be a withdrawal from
society, a rejection of people’s
expectations, and avoidance of
peopele.
 CONFORMITY
It speaks of adopting, abiding,
and accepting norms of society
in order to fit in the group.
