“TEENAGE PREGNANCY:THE

PSYCHOLOGICAL AND
EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES AND
CHALLENGES OF
ADOLESCENTS”
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Teenage pregnancy had been a
worldwide issue, has raised numbers of
campaigns and awareness to lessen it’s
occurrence. According to World Health
Organization (WHO) every year
approximately 16 million teenage girls give
birth world wide.
In 2022, the Philippines Statistics
Authority posted that 5.4 percent among
Filipino women aged 15 to 19 years have
been pregnant, about 1.6 percent of them
were \ currently pregnant, and less than one
percent (0.4%) have had a pregnancy list. It’s
proven that teenage pregnancy is one of the
problem of our country.
In Serafin C. Rosero Memorial High
School shows a 5% rate of students who are
involved in teenage pregnancy from school
year 2020-2023.Teenage mothers can
experience psychological and emotional
challenges like stress, anxiety and
depression during their pregnancy.
This study aims to know the
psychological and emotional challenges and
experiences of students who are involved in
teenage pregnancy in Serafin C. Rosero
Memorial High School. To know their needs,
support and services that can help to them to
prevent psychological and emotional
challenges that they experienced.
RESEARCH QUESTION
This study seek to answer the following
questions:

1.What are the emotional state of adolescent


learners who experienced teenage
pregnancy?
2. What are psychological and emotional
challenges encountered during teenage
pregnancy?

3. How do adolescents manage psychological


and emotional experiences during their
pregnancy
4. How do support system and resources
influence the psychological and emotional
state who engaged in teenage pregnancy?
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
The aim of this study is to investigate the
psychological and emotional experiences and
challenges of adolescents students that
involved in teenage pregnancy in Serafin C.
Rosero Memorial High School from school
year 2020-2023.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
ADOLESCENTS
This research can help adolescent
understand the risk and consequences of
teenage pregnancy empowering them to
make informed decision about their sexual
health.
PARENTS
This research can provide parents with
deeper understanding of the factors that
contribute to teenage pregnancy helping
them to better comprehend the risks and
challenges of their children might face
during pregnancy.
TEACHERS
This research will equip teachers with
valuable knowledge, strategies and
resources to support their students
effectively, contribute to their professional
growth and advocate for evidence based
approach on the field of adolescents sexual
health.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
PREGNANT TEENAGER
Are the beneficiaries and the main focus
of this study.
PHYCHOLOGICAL
In this study, psychological refers to the
person symptoms like anxiety, depression ,
and stress that might face by young
mother.
EMOTIONAL
In this study, teenagers who pregnancy can
experience emotion like fears, sadness,
confusion, anger and ambivalence.
SUPPORT SYSTEM
In this study, will show how support system
can help teenage mothers to recover.
PARENTS
Are the one who create safe space where
they feel comfortable discussing their feelings
,concerns and experiences related to
pregnancy.
TEACHERS
Are the one who create a supportive
classroom .
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
This theories are related to this study to
provide solutions or insights on how to
prevent the risk of adolescent mothers.
Through this theories can help to understand
the factors that can influence to the decisions
and behavior of adolescent mothers in order
to know there needs and action that need to
take.
RESEARCH METHOD
This study will use or utilize a
qualitative research method. A qualitative
research seeks to gain insights and
understanding people’s experiences and
perspective. It’s begins in 1925, in the work
advocacy of the psychologist,Paul Felix
Lazarfield.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design that will able to use in
this study is phenomenological. A
phenomenological research design is the
ultimate source of all meaning and value is
the lived experiences of human being. This
study will use a phenomenological, because
it’s dwell on the lived experience of teenage
mothers during their pregnancy.
RESPONDENTS
A students in Serafin C. Rosero Memorial
High School that involve in teenage
pregnancy in school year 2020-2023. The
respondents that will be able to choose are
those students who got pregnant on that
particular year and students of Serafin C.
Rosero Memorial High School.
SAMPLING DESIGN PROCEDURE
The sampling procedure that will able to
use is a non- probability sampling, purposive
and convenient sampling. This research
sampling are appropriate in choosing a
respondents for this study.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
The research instrument that will be able to
use in this study is face to face in depth
interview (IDI’s) or through video call and
message. This research instruments is can
help to explain, better understanding and
explore research subjects opinions, behaviors
, experiences and phenomenon.
DATA COLLECTION
The researchers will able to get data from
the adviser’s in order to know, who are those
students are involved in teenage pregnancy.
Researchers will send a letter or message to
those chosen respondents , to inform them.
Respondents are the one who choose the
place for interview.
DATA ANALYSIS
Researcher’s will able to hear those
recordings and analyze the same
perceptions or information that will able to
gather. Also to classify what are the most
challenges that they encounter to provide
solution for this problem.
