evaluating claims about a population.

EXAMPLES 1
The average monthly income of Filipino families who belong to
CLAIM low income bracket is ₱ 7,500
1. The average number of vehicles passing through SCTEX daily is less than or
equal to 19,500.
2. In 2015, it was recorded that around 34% of the population in 2015 were
not married. A researcher surveyed a random sample of 500 couples. He
found out that 18% of them were living together but unmarried. Test 5%
significance level if the current percentage of unmarried couples is different
from 34%
3. One of the undersecretaries of the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE) claims that the average salary of a civil engineer is Php 37,600. A
sample 19 civil engineers’ salary has a mean of Php 37,000 and a standard
deviation of Php 1,230. Is there enough evidence to reject the
undersecretary’s claim at α = 0.01?
4. The average daily number of customers in a convenience store is greater
than 950.
5. The mean content of citric acid in a bottle of juice drinks is greater than 2
ml.
