What is a MUSICAL PLAY?

it is a theater form that incorporates music, songs, dialogues and


dances into one stage spectacle

topics could vary such as love, humor, history, culture and just
about anything that pertains to the life of a person

may have spoken lines, though they are kept to a minimal

musical theaters or plays are very popular around the world

into movies)
The Philippines is known as one of the centers of musical plays
on this side of the world.

~Since the Spanish times, Filipinos have seen zarzuelas and


theatrical musicals from Spain which we have adopted and
acculturated, that in the early 1900s, the Sarswela became the
primary entertainment form of Filipinos.

~During world War II, a loose type of show called BODABIL


( vaudeville) came into play and became the staple
entertainment fare during the Japanese period. Eventually,
modern theatrical musicals were written and composed by local
composers and playwrights.
