FR: Fritz Wenzel, President, Wenzel Strategies RE: Survey of Likely Voters Statewide in KY CD6
Wenzel Strategies is an opinion research company established in 2005 and based in Columbus, Ohio. It serves clients nationwide in politics, media, non-profit, corporate, and government. It conducted a telephone survey of

likely voters in KY CD6 regarding the November election. The survey included 776 respondents and was conducted Oct. 23-24, 2012. It carries a margin of error of +/- 3.49 percentage points.

Republican congressional challenger Andy Barr barely leads Democrat incumbent Ben Chandler in this toss-up district in Kentucky, holding a 45% to 41% advantage, with 6% favoring independent candidate Randolph Vance and another 8% yet undecided, the latest Wenzel Strategies poll of the race shows. Chandler is having significant trouble winning strong support among his own party. Just 64% of Democrats support him in the race, while 22% of Democrats support the Republican candidate. Another 10% of Democrats are yet unsure. Barr, meanwhile, is winning 78% of the Republican vote, while another 11% of Republicans said they are supporting Chandler in the race. Among independent voters in the district, Barr leads Chandler by a 45% to 33% margin. Chandler is seen favorably by 49% of voters, while 49% also hold an unfavorable opinion of him. For Barr, 55% hold a favorable opinion of him, while 39% hold a negative view of the GOP challenger. The overall mood of the electorate is somewhat negative but not as bad as in other places in the region. While 39% said they think things in their area are, generally speaking, heading in the right direction, another 50% said they think things are off on the wrong track. ###
