KEYNOTES:
CURRENT ORIOLE, FORMER HILLCAT REHABS WITH KEYS: Orioles outfielder and DH Steve Pearce was to rehab tonight with the Keys, but the Orioles trade that brought pitcher Bud Norris to Baltimore and sent former Key L.J. Hoes to Houston cut his rehab short. Pearce has been out since June 21 with sore wrists and posted an 0-for-4 last night. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, was hit by a pitch and grounded into a double play Monday night, his first rehab game with the Keys. Pearce, a former Lynchburg Hillcat, was batting .235 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 28 games for the Orioles before being placed on the disabled list. In 06, he hit .265 with 14 homers and 60 RBIs in 90 games for Lynchburg and in 07 he played 19 games for the Hillcats, slugging 11 homers and driving in 24 runs. In his first game against the Keys (May 26, 2006), Pearce hit a three-run, walk-off homer in Lynchburg. WELCOME BACK, ZANE: Keys catcher Zane Chavez was activated from the disabled list today after a six-week stay on the DL. Chavez was placed on the DL with an oblique strain on June 14. Zane Chavez was hitting .268 with four homers and 30 RBIs before his oblique sidelined him. His last homer came on June 4, a tworun walk-off shot down the right field line that beat the Hillcats at Harry Grove Stadium. He went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup Monday and didnt play Tuesday.

This Day in Keys History

July 31, 1994: The Keys beat WinstonSalem 7-3, Eric Chavez going 3-for-4 with two runs and 2 RBIs for the Keys. Calvin Maduro earned the win for Frederick and Roy Hodge and Lincoln martin each had two this and an RBI.
