KEYNOTES:
IMPORTED FROM CUBA: Making his home debut, Cuban outfield prospect Dariel Alvarez went 4-for-5, slugged a three-run homer in his first at-bat, doubled twice, scored three times and drove in four runs, coming a triple shy of the cycle. He was promoted to Frederick Thursday and went 5-for-10 with an RBI in his first two Carolina League games. Alvarez, 24, was signed by Baltimore in July and went 4for-9 with two doubles, a triple, a homer and three RBIs in three games in the GCL before being promoted. Hes batting .600 for the Keys entering todays game. Alvarez defected from Cuba to Mexico before the 2012 season, where he played in the Veracruz league and hit .317 for Tuxpan. In five seasons with the Cuban Leagues Camaguey, Alvarez hit .297 with 37 home runs and 180 RBIs. RUDY ON THE RUN: Keys outfielder Johnny Ruettiger stole his 38th base of the season last night, just three behind the Carolina Leagues active steals leader, Potomacs Michael Taylor. Former P-Nat Billy Burns still leads the league with 51 steals even though has been promoted. Ruettigers 38 swipes are the most for a Key since Kyle Hudson stole 40 in 2010. Fredericks single -season steals record belongs to Tim Raines, Jr., who stole 81 bases in 2000.

This Day in Keys History
