Digital Day at BPL

Offered March 31
Digital Day at the Bradford Public Library will again be held all
day Monday, March 31. Anyone can check out the new laptops, tablets,
and e-readers for use in the library and the staff can show you how to
operate them.
There are some games already loaded and if there is an electronic
book that you would like to read in the relaxation of the library, the librarians can load that book, as well.
In addition, you might want to check out the new A to Z Database. Are you, a friend, or family member looking for a job? Do you
want to know more about the community you live in? Would you like
to find a lost friend or family member? How about finding a cell phone
number for someone who doesnt have a land-line? BPL has a brandnew database that you will love! It will be available at the library and
also at your home, when signing in with your library card. It is amazing and will help area communities know what is available locally, by
county, state, etc.
This is only available at the Bradford Public Library and Tipp City Libraries as a service for patrons.
A special thank you to Covington Eagles Aerie #3998 for their generous donation to assist in purchasing this electronic database for the
library.
Call 937-448-2612 for additional information.

noon. Enjoy home-baked refreshments and the camaraderie

of the Tree-top Vista as you learn
all about the centers woodpeckers. They have been making
quite a show this year at the
feeders, and especially love the
upside down suet feeder. Why
upside down? Woodpeckers can
easily hang below the feeder,
picking chunks of suet through
the wire mesh; however, starlings cant feed that way, so it
saves your suet for the species
you want to feed. Seeing the
pileated woodpecker from just
three feet away is an awe-inspiring experience.
All levels of birders welcome. FREE and open to the

throughout the course of four sessions. Each week, children will be supplied with certain prompts (characters, setting, etc.) to help them get started. A different genre will be
chosen each week (fantasy, horror, mystery, etc.) and children will write a short story using the ideas
given or their own. Children will also illustrate one scene from their story, using paint, watercolors,
chalk, pencils, paper, or other materials furnished by the library. Finally, the books will be bound with
a spiral binding. Parents may stay with their child and help them throughout the program.
At the end of the four weeks, on Saturday, March 29, there will be a Book Art Show from 10 a.m.

take their books home after the show.

Dolly Partons Imagination Library

Provides FREE Books to Preschoolers
Preschool children in Miami County can now receive free
books in the mail every month. The Troy-Miami County Public
Library is working with local sponsors to bring Dolly Partons
Imagination Library to all children in Miami County from birth
to age five. Each child enrolled will receive one book by mail each
month.
You can pick up information at the J.R. Clarke Public Library,
102 E. Spring St., Covington, to sign your child up, or go to
www.troypubliclibrary.org to sign up online.
Early childhood literacy is very important, so please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

There has been some confusion regarding advertising in our Calendar

of Events ($12 for the first week and $6 for each additional week, containing all your pertinent details), with the guarantee of one free news article containing more comprehensive information about your event.
A rule of thumb to remember is that if a church, school, or organization
is charging for a meal or event, regardless of where the profits will be directed, you must pay to advertise it in the Stillwater Valley Advertiser.
The key word in the name of our paper is advertiser. We are able to remain in business only through paid advertising. If we were to advertise
these dinners/events by way of free news articles, it would be unfair to the
restaurants and organizations who do pay for display advertising.
One exception to this guideline would be if a charitable event is held,
with all proceeds benefitting an individual or family, such as in the case
where someone is battling an illness or recovering from a tragic event.
The free news articles we publish are provided as a service to our readers, on an as space is available basis, depending on the number of paid
advertisers we have for a given issue. We cannot guarantee free news articles will be published.
We hope this explanation clarifies our position. We wish we could print
each and every news article submitted to us but, unfortunately, the reality
is that it would be financially impossible to do so.

Thank You
