Bridgend Minutes 20 – 02 – 2011

Apologies: Chris and Matina Action Points

Present: Jade, Will, John, Cass, Ros, Soraya and Anna

 Forth Sector will help to fill out the investing in ideas grant
application to receive up to £10 000 to carry out a more
detailed feasibility study. Also possibility of applying to Big
Lottery and looking into match funding possibilities

Building and Design

 Jades research suggests that for a good quality rebuild costs
would be around £1800 - £2000 per square meter this
agrees with the figures Malcolm Fraser previously gave for
build costs
 Jade has done a sketch of the outside of the building which Jade to do some similar sketches
we were all very pleased with but for the interior
 Still the possibility of Glasshouse Design running some
courses with us in community design
 Napier University eager to get some students involved with Will to find out more details
project about background of Napier
 Want to do more research about the types of ‘green’ students
features we could incorporate into the build e.g. rammed
earth to avoid concrete, using traditional building materials
such as straw. Could make the building a beacon for green
design in Edinburgh/Scotland by doing something that has
not been done in the area before?
 Need to get an Environ report completed. We have been
offered it at cost price and with a small bit of extra time to
find the money which would be roughly £450 so need to
fundraise to get this.
Anna to research numbers for
 Community Services Team: Still willing to work on building
