Cameron lends backing to Ulster rowing stars

PRIME Minister David Cameron pledged his support for Coleraines top rowing trio Alan Campbell, Richard Chambers and Peter Chambers as he visited Bann Rowing

Club yesterday ahead of their bid for Olympic gold today and tomorrow. Team GB finally won its first gold medal yesterday in the rowing after sensational performances by Helen Glover and Heather Stanning. Cyclist Bradley Wiggins also took gold on day five of the London Games.

Mr Cameron said that Team GB is a team for the whole of the UK, adding: There are some fantastic athletes from Northern Ireland taking part. Peter and Richard Chambers, pictured right, compete in the lightweight mens four final at 12.10pm today. See pages 3, 4, 5 & Sport
