Ulster couples 1.9m lottery win

BY PHILIP BRADFIELD
p.bradfield@newsletter.co.uk

Seven pages of motoring action

A BALLYMENA couple will reveal their plans for the future this morning after winning 1.9 million on the National Lottery. Last night lottery operator Camelot was keeping tightlipped about the identity of the

newly wealthy couple. But at 11am today the brave pair will set aside their anonymity and step in front of gathered media at a specially organised press conference at the Galgorm Resort and Spa in Ballymena. There they will tell the world how they have been celebrating and share their plans for the

future. The couple won the 1.9 million in last Fridays EuroMillions draw. According to the BBC, more than 50 people in Northern Ireland have become lottery millionaires, including the McKibben family from Kilkeel and Belfast grandmother Iris Jeffrey, who won 20.1m seven years ago.

Belfast bus driver Peter Lavery won 10.2m 16 years ago. However, 37 Ulster winners have never revealed themselves. Some 70 per cent of UK adults play the lottery, with 28p in every pound spent on tickets going to good causes, 50p to prizes, 12p to the Exchequer and about 10p to administration and retailers.
