Literacy

Non fiction : We will be researching Dinosaurs and writing our own information books. Creative writing: Creating our own Dinosaur, describing movement, appearance, sound and character. Poetry: Dinosaur poems. Narrative: Write an exciting story set in the land before time. We will continue to use interesting connectives, speech marks and adjectives.

Music
We will be writing our own Dinosaur songs to describe sounds that they may have made or heard. Then well choose instruments to accompany our lyrics. We will use a variety of instruments to experiment with beat, rhythm and tempo.

Art / DT
Exploring Materials: We will use different materials to create dinosaur images including pastels, charcoal, paint, collage and ICT. We will be making our favourite dinosaur and an environment for it to live in. We will create our own fossils!
RE. Stories that Jesus told.

ICT
Use internet texts to gather information for our reports in Literacy. Use ICT as a way of producing dinosaur art work and texts to be included in our information books.

Science

Dangerous Dinosaurs!

We will be looking at what the Dinosaurs ate, how they moved and their similarities and differences. We will be doing lots of sorting based on our own criteria and look at the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

Maths

Counting, partitioning and calculating (Block A2) Securing number facts, understanding shapes (Block B2) Handling data and measures (Block C2) Create a class pictogram or graph of favourite dinosaurs Measure the estimated length or height of a dinosaur. Calculating, measuring and understanding shape. (Block D2) Creating dinosaur pictures using various shapes, 2D and 3D.

Swifts Year 1/2 Autumn term 2012

We will explore fossils and do some Fossil hunting! We will look at Dinosaur skeletons!

PE

We will be dancing like Dinosaurs, linking movements together to perform a sequence. Games.

Maps Where have dinosaurs been found?

Going for Goals and new beginnings.

We will be setting personal targets and will work hard to achieve them. We will also try very hard with our Literacy and Maths targets for the term.
