Objective
To test an amilum, glucose, protein, and fat which contained in food material To distinguish about the solution for this experiment, there is Lugol solution, Benedict (Fehling A and B) solution, Biuret solution and how to test the fat with paper.

Utensils
Reaction tube / test-tube Beaker Glass

Test-tube pincers Ethylated (spiritus) burner

Pipette

Grinder

Materials
Sugar Test Solution (Biuret, Benedict, and Lugol)

Rice (packet of rice / lontong) Flour Palm Oil Egg (white part / albumin)
Lugol reagent
Biuret reagent

Paper Result Table

Procedure
1. Glucose Test > Make a sugar solution with the water > Pour it into test-tube until 2cm from base tube > Then put 10 drops Benedict reagent into the testtube > Heat it on the burner with non direct contact and wait until it changes into different colour. > Record the result into the table. > And do the same thing with the other solution (dont burn it on the burner, except Benedict reagent)

Glucose Test

2. Carbohydrate Test > Make a rice solution (grind it before make the solution) and flour solution. > Pour it into the different test-tube until 2cm from base tube > Then put 5 drops lugol reagent into the testtube > Shake it periodically and wait until it changes into different colour. > Record the result into the table > And do the same thing with the other solution (dont burn it on the burner, except Benedict reagent)

3. Protein Test > Pour an albumin into beaker glass with the water until become a solution > Put it into test-tube until 2cm from base tube > Then put 5 drops Biuret reagent into the testtube > Shake it periodically and wait until it change into different colour > Record the result into the table > And do the same thing with the other solution (dont burn it on the burner, except Benedict reagent)

4. Fat Test > Drop a palm oil on the paper (all kinds of paper is not a matter) > Then wait until an oil penetrated in the paper > Look at the paper surface, if the paper become transparent so the reagent (palm oil) is included a fat.

Discussion Report
1. Result Table of Food Material Test

2. Discussion
Based on the table above, the sugar solution changed into brick-red colour when it heat on the burner with non direct contact with Benedict (Fehling A and B) reagent, so it consist of glucose. Because, the glucoses food material will changed into brick-red colour when it heat with Benedict reagent. Then, the carbohydrate (in this experiment: rice and flour) changed into dark blue colour when it shake with lugol reagent. Because the carbohydrates food material will changed into dark blue colour when it mix with lugol reagent. Next, albumin changed into violet colour after we shake it with Biuret reagent. Because, an albumins food material will changed into violet when it mix with Biuret reagent. And then, the last, about the fat. The drop of palm oil changes the paper into transparent phase, it proof that palm oil is contained with fat. Because, fats food material will changes a paper become to transparent phase.

Conclusion
We know about the contain of some food materials when we test it with some reagent, like Lugol for Carbohydrate, Benedict for Glucose, and Biuret for Protein. The fat will changes the paper become to transparent phase, so we can know it from look at the result of paper phase. And based on the materials in this experiment, so we can conclude that rice and flour is contained with carbohydrate, sugar is contained with glucose, albumin (white part of egg) is contained with protein, and palm oil is contained with fat.
