FEBRUARY
Our Week
Dear Parents, Report cards will be going home this Thursday, February 28th. Please sign and return the envelope. You keep the report card. Your childs grades are a reflection of class work, their Superkids tests and individual testing. If you have any questions regarding their report card, please phone or email me and we can discuss your concerns. This week in Religion, we will read Chapter 14, We Belong to the Catholic Church. We will read the story, A Special Family Sunday and learn about Baptism. We will learn what happens at Baptism and how we became members of our Church. In Math we will learn how to divide items by sharing, identify and order numbers and compare sets of objects. We will also identify hot and cold items. This week in Reading we will be working on Unit 4 from the Superkids Club. This week we will continue to work on the letter M. We will finish our story from last Friday (The Hunt). We will also practice blending sounds to decode words, learn a new Memory word (for), learn about synonyms and antonyms and follow oral directions. We will also have our second progress test for the Superkids Club. This test will assess our knowledge of the letters and sounds for Mm and Nn. We will also read Memory words and read and circle the correct picture for sentences.

Reminders
The money and pledge forms for the St. Peter Rock and Readathon are due this Tuesday. The funds that we receive will go to the Dominican Literacy Center and our own school library. The readathon will be on Wednesday. Thank you for your generosity! The March Pizza Hut reading logs are going home today. This will be the last Pizza Hut log for this year. The February reading logs are due this Thursday, February 28th. Thank you. There will be no school this Friday, March 1st. It is a teacher institute day. Parent Tip of the Week: The students need to practice counting coins; specifically pennies, nickels and dimes. It is confusing for them, since pennies are counted by ones, nickels by fives and dimes by tens. Please help them practice this concept at home using spare change. Thank you!
