Erosion

is the process by which the surface of the Earth gets worn down. Erosion can be caused by natural elements, such as wind or glacial ice. If you have seen a picture of the Grand Canyon, you will realize that nothing beats the slow steady movement of water when it comes to changing the Earth.

What is erosion?

Hydraulic Action Hydraulic action happens when waves force air in cracks in cliffs at high pressure causing those cracks widen, and thus, the cliff will fall.

Causes of Coastal Erosion

Abrasion Rocks bash against cliffs, eventually wearing it away.

Causes of Coastal Erosion

Attrition Rocks from the beaches smash against each other, smoothening them.

Causes of Coastal Erosion

Solution Acids in the water(river, sea etc.) will dissolve the substances in the rocks, and breaking them.
