STAD Lesson Plan Analysis Probability This lesson plan is very strong because it is thorough, creative, and descriptive.

I think that needed some improvement on its organization because I had some difficulty following it. It also bothered me that the title was just lesson plan. The title needs to be a little more descriptive like, STAD Lesson Plan: Probability. However, overall, this this lesson plan is really good and I would use it in my classroom someday. The aspects of this lesson plan that connect to the STAD model are: content, instruction, teams, evaluation and improvement points. The STAD model works very well for math because most math problems have convergent answers. This lesson covers probability, which is great for this model. The teacher begins instruction with using dice for the introduction. The teacher uses direct instruction to teach how to find probability. Then, the teacher divides the class into groups and explains how the group work and improvement points will be implemented. The evaluation for this lesson plan grades the individual students according to their ability to find the probability of an event, and it awards improvement points to the teams. If I could tweak this lesson to improve it I would organize the information better, but I would not change the content very much because I really like this lesson. I love the worksheet for this lesson plan because it has the students use a stack of cards and a coin to make predictions and find probability. I think that this is great because it connects the lesson to real world experiences and it helps visual and tactile learners grasp the concept.
